The Department of Culture in Wurzburg City, Germany invited Australian Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Cuiying to hold a Chinese painting exhibition. Because people were aware of Zhang's artistic accomplishments and the cruel persecution she suffered in China as a Falun Gong practitioner, her arrival drew a good deal of attention.

An International Human Rights Organization Holds a Press Conference for Zhang Cuiying

On the morning of September 11, the headquarter of Germany's International Human Rights Organization held a press conference for Zhang Cuiying marking the opening of her painting exhibition. Reporters from several large city newspapers participated in the conference. A spokesperson from the International Human Rights Organization introduced the seriousness of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong and condemned their human rights abuses. He invited Zhang to give her firsthand accounts of the suffering she endured in jail in China. Zhang's testimony revealed to the journalists the true colours of Jiang Zemin's regime. When she described how she and others prisoners were forced to work over ten hours each day to make handicrafts that would be exported, the speaker of the organization pointed out: "Many gifts made in China and sold on the European market are made using exploited labour. This is a typical example of how Jiang Zemin's government carries out inhumane policies."

The speaker also invited the contact person of the German Falun Dafa Association to speak about the persecution of Falun Gong carried out by the Chinese government. This contact person discussed the full scope of Jiang Zemin's regime's torture of Falun Gong practitioners and appealed to the reporters to uphold justice, condemn the viciousness, promote benevolence and support Falun Gong practitioners who believe in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". All the journalists continuously nodded their heads in agreement.

The Department of Culture of Wurzburg City Presides Over the Opening Ceremony of the Painting Exhibition

On the evening of September 12 at 7 pm, the heads of the Department of Culture of Wurzburg City and the City Arts Museum presided over the opening ceremony of the exhibition. The leader of the Department of Culture expressed his gratitude to Zhang for holding the painting exhibition in Wurzburg and pointed out specifically: "There are so many unfair issues existing in the world, people are looking for the way to solve these problems; Mrs. Zhang presents her beautiful arts and her glorious morality."
Zhang Cuiying also gave a speech. She emphasized that the core of artistic work is virtue and clarified the relationship between virtue and cultivating one's heart and practicing Falun Gong. She also mentioned facts about the torture she endured in China. She then invited all guests to experience her artistic works and to be enlightened to beauty and benevolence.

A German Falun Gong practitioner also spoke and introduced some main features of Chinese painting, in particular he discussed how art explores realms where a human being dissolves into nature and harmonizes with nature; and he also mentioned the emphasis on morality in the Chinese arts. He said, "Falun Gong practitioners cultivate Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance; this is the main reason why Zhang Cuiying's works reach a high realm."
Finally the president of the Arts Museum gave a speech. He gave praise to Zhang Cuiying's artistic achievement in Chinese traditional arts and invited everyone to enjoy the exhibition.

Reporters and photographers came to the opening ceremony. They interviewed Zhang Cuiying and took photographs of her and her work. She displayed 62 paintings and people highly praised her work. Some bought her paintings instantly so as to support the Falun Gong practitioners who are being persecuted. A German woman from the Germany-China Association said that the paintings were the most beautiful she had seen in all Chinese painting exhibitions. An artist from Mongolia told Zhang Cuiying that he knew about the truth of China's persecution of Falun Gong and that he appreciated Zhang's spirit very much. A young amateur reporter also spoke for a long time with practitioners and wanted to write a report about the exhibition. He told Zhang Cuiying that he had not awoken from the shock of the terrorist attacks on the U.S., and that the day's exhibition offered him consolation. He recognized that this world needs peacefulness so much.
