Irish Falun Dafa Practitioners are appealing to all kind-hearted people to help their fellow practitioners who have been detained in China, by asking them to sign a petition letter and send it to the Chinese Embassy and the Irish Government. Below are some background details on their cases, and the petition letter.

Detained for 10 Months, with no Visitors Allowed

Mr. Liu Feng and Ms. Yang Fang are 3rd level students who should be finishing their prograduate studies in Ireland but, because of their spiritual belief, they are currently being illegally detained in China.

In 1999, Liu Feng and Yang Fang bravely returned to China and peacefully appealed to the Chinese government to cease its persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. Both students where detained, their passports were taken away and their right to return to Ireland and continue their education was denied.

In the summer of 2002, both Feng and Fang again managed to reclaim their passports and they successfully got an Irish visa. They planned to return to Dublin to continue their studies.

Liu Feng decided to visit his parents before his trip back to Ireland to say farewell. Somehow local police learnt of his plans to travel to Ireland and arrested him without charge. His only ‘crime’ is that he practises Falun Dafa. Liu Feng planned to travel to Ireland with his new wife and start a new life here, yet both of their passports currently sit in the Irish Embassy in Beijing, a sad start to this young man’s new married life. Neither his wife, nor any family member have been allowed to see him since he was detained. His friends and family are worried for his safety.

Ms Yang Fang very nearly returned to Ireland. She collected her passport and went to Beijing airport to catch a flight to Dublin. As she went to check in, the airport police arrested her and she was escorted to her hometown. While detained, she went on a hunger strike to appeal against the unlawful treatment. She was subsequently released, but her passport was not returned. She is currently registered at Dun Laoghaire College, Dublin but is unable to return to Ireland.

Please Support us to Rescue Feng and Fang

The campaign to rescue Trinity College Student Zhao Ming was a success but sadly there are still two students to be rescued. Ming has said “We [Fang, Feng and I] returned to China separately at the end of 1999 for Christmas. Our very true feelings and gains from Falun Dafa practice made us have no hesitation in trying to persuade the government to stop their policy of banning this practice. But Feng and Fang are still missing in China. I hope that Irish government can help them the same as they helped me.”

We are determined to rescue them and we can achieve this with your support.

Letter Requesting the Release of Two Students Detained in China and Prevented from Returning to Ireland to Continue their Studies

Dear ______________________,

I have learned about the detention of two Dun Laoghaire students in China, and I am very concerned for their safety. Their names are Liu Feng and Yang Fang. They have valid visas to return to Ireland but have been detained and denied the right to return simply because of their spiritual belief. I find this behaviour unacceptable and devoid of humanity.

Their spiritual belief is Falun Dafa, an ancient Chinese practice, which includes five simple exercises and follows the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

I am aware that they are not Irish and are Chinese citizens, but their human rights are being violated, so this is our concern as human beings. As I am sure you are aware, some people (former president Jiang Zemin and his regime) in the Chinese government have abused their power and have ruthlessly persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners for nearly 4 years. Many people have died and many more are suffering but Yang and Feng have the good fortune of being students in Ireland, thus the Irish government and people can speak out on their behalf.

Liu Feng is in an especially dangerous situation. He has been detained for over 10 months with no visitors permitted to see him. I sincerely hope he is OK. I also hope that the Irish Embassy in China can send on official to check on his safety. Thank you for your time and patience; with your support these young students will enjoy freedom again soon.

Sincerely,
