Remembering the Old Chinese Saying, “Good and Evil Have Just Rewards”

Before the Great Cultural Revolution in China, which saw a great upheaval of traditional Chinese values and society, many people believed that accumulating virtue through good deeds would bring good fortune and blessings for the future, but doing bad deeds would cause one to accumulate karma resulting in future suffering to repay the karmic debt. In the last couple of years, there have been many stories of those who have said some good words about Falun Gong, or done some good deeds for Falun Gong having good fortune and also stories of those people who persecuted Falun Gong practitioners suffering great misfortune. For many Chinese, these stories are prompting them to remember the words which their parents or grandparents used to say, and to rekindle their belief in the old saying, “Good is rewarded with good, and evil brings retribution”. Of course, as practitioners who cultivate compassion we are only sad to see the suffering of our fellow human beings, and are only sad to see that people suffer karmic retribution. These examples are just to encourage people to consider the effect of their actions on their own future and to encourage them to act with goodness and righteousness.

A Good Heart is Rewarded with Good Returns

During the Spring Festival holiday of 2003, at an entrance to a bus station, the police put the picture of Falun Dafa's founder on the ground and forced passengers to step on it. Suddenly, this picture blew over to one booth nearby and the owner, a middle aged women (not a practitioner) found it. She thought: "Is this a picture of Master Li? How could they do wicked things like this?" But it was too crowded to pick the picture up. A plastic bag suddenly flew down and covered the picture. She picked it up and took it home. In the evening, she cleaned the stain off the picture and carefully stored it. That day she earned the most money and her business has improved daily since then.

“The Heavenly Principles are just; the vicious people receive karmic retribution”

Ren Wei, Vice Political Chief of Huaiyang County Police Department of Henan Province, was keen on arresting Falun Gong practitioners, and was very brutal to them. Because he had committed so many bad deeds, he was arrested several months ago. He is imprisoned under the charge of embezzlement, bribery and buying the services of prostitutes, and is going to trial soon. Now he is beaten by prisoners daily. The local people talk privately, "The Heavenly Principles are just; the vicious are suffering karmic retribution."

My son works at the stock exchange market. He has personally observed changes in a couple practised Falun Dafa and deeply knew that Falun Dafa is righteous. SARS is spreading in China now and everyone is afraid of being infected. The area he works in is crowded and the air is not fresh, but wearing a mask during business hours was prohibited by his superiors. Because he sits at the front desk area and faces customers every day, he was afraid of becoming infected with the disease. His fear made him feel thirsty, short of breath, and giddy. He suddenly remembered Falun Dafa and spoke from his heart: "Falun Dafa is good." After doing this a few times, he felt a gentle and fresh breeze blowing towards him, and he felt very relaxed and full of energy. He was so happy to tell us: "Falun Dafa is so special, I would like to read the book Zhuan Falun as well."

Vice Chief of Yingkou City Bayuquan District Port Police Department of Liaoning Province Suffers Retribution

Leng Changqing, Vice Chief of Yingkou City Bayuquan District Port Police Department of Liaoning Province, who was in charge of persecuting Falun Gong and working for Jiang's political scoundrel group, had sent Dafa practitioner Su Xiaohong to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for one year of forced Labour in 2001, had deceived and sent Dafa practitioner Kang Yuzhi to Masanjia for two years of forced labour in mid-January of 2001, and had sent several Dafa practitioners to Yingkou City brainwashing centre in September 2002. On May 1st, 2003, he suffered karmic retribution when his home caught on fire and most of his property was burned up.

Good Fortune for One Who Stood up for Dafa

A Dafa practitioner was forced to become destitute to avoid illegal arrest, but under the persecution's pressure, the practitioner's family did not understand him.

The practitioner's brother-in-law was accepted by a school in the U.S., but was refused a visa three times. Eventually as more time passed, and school was scheduled to begin, all the family and friends felt hopeless.

One day, the practitioner was illegally arrested, and his wife and her brother came to visit him in the police station. Upon seeing the unfair treatment of Dafa practitioners, the brother argued with the policeman and asked for the beating and cursing against the practitioner to stop. The practitioner told his wife quietly: her brother will get the visa now. It was exactly as the practitioner predicted: when his brother-in-law went to the consulate again, he got the visa without any problems.

Food for Thought: A Failing Restaurant

A former police agent who was very vicious in persecuting Falun Gong has had lots of troubles over these past few years. First he was dismissed from work. When he moved to another work unit, he was dismissed from there. He then moved to a different city to open up a restaurant. In less than half a year, he lost a few hundred thousand yuan. He became very poor. Having no other way, he went to a company to work as a security agent for 400 yuan per month. Even so, there were still people who would make trouble for him. Nothing went right for him. All these problems are the retribution he brought upon himself for persecuting those who believe in the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
