Greetings to the 2003 Mid-US Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference from Mayor of Chicago Richard Daley

As Mayor and on behalf of the City of Chicago, it is my pleasure to welcome all those attending the Mid-West Regional Falun Gong Experience Sharing Conference.

First Publicly introduced in 1992 by its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, combines the physical traditions of qigong, an ancient Chinese practice of special exercises and meditation to improve the body and the mind, with an emphasis on developing moral character throughout one's daily activities. Based on the universal quality of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Forbearance), the practice of Falun Dafa has spread throughout China to more than sixty other countries, attracting millions of people from many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

For those visiting Chicago, I hope you will take the time to discover some of what makes this city a favourite destination for visitors from around the world. From our great architecture and beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline to ur world-renowned cultural institutions and exciting nightlife, Chicago offers something for everyone.
