To express their support and concern of over 100 Falun Gong practitioners on hunger strike in Jilin Prison, Falun Gong practitioners from Los Angeles held a candlelight vigil outside the Chinese Consulate on the evening of October 28. They asked the Chinese government to release all Falun Gong practitioners on hunger strikes and all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners. They called upon the general public to be concerned with the development of this matter and give their urgent support.

To protest the brutal torture, these Falun Gong practitioners have been on hunger strikes for many days, and their lives are in great danger. It has been confirmed that Changchun practitioner Liu Chengjun has been on the brink of death for several days.

Falun Gong practitioners expressed that the Jiang Zemin regime's persecution of Falun Gong is totally based on lies. Falun Gong practitioners in China do not have any channels and opportunities to express their views. The extent and the degree of the brutal persecution have been covered up by the government's propaganda machine. To reduce the persecution and let the general public know the truth of Falun Gong, practitioners in China such as Liu Chengjun used means like tapping into TV signals to expose the persecution. It is a righteous act and one of great courage. Sadly, they are being brutally tortured for this. Falun Gong practitioners detained in prison do not have any channels through which to lodge their complaints. A hunger strike is often the only way to protest the persecution. Falun Gong practitioners appeal to the international community to understand the cruelty of this persecution and extend their help to stop it.
