Dundee East MP Iain Luke met members of the local Falun Gong group as they collected signatures for their national petition asking the Chinese government to ensure Falun Gong human rights are protected as they are entitled to be under the United Nations charter.

Mr. Luke had earlier meetings in Westminster to take up the issue of the Chinese embassy’s refusal to issue a passport to Miss Minghui You, daughter of Chinese residents of Dundee Mrs. Zhengfang Mo and Mr. Yi You, apparently because of the beliefs of the child’s parents.

Mr. Luke said he was saddened by the lack of progress but he would continue to press the case.

Iain Luke said that no one should be denied their birthright of citizenship because of their parents’ views.
