Mr. Cheng Changlin, 37 years old, was a worker at the Linhe Sugar Factory located at Xinming Lane, Xinhua West Street, Linhe City, Ba League, Inner Mongolia.

In the autumn of 2001, Mr. Cheng was taken away by Linhe police and sent to the Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp's third brigade. Because he said, "Falun Dafa is good!" when he arrived, Policeman Yang Yang ordered prisoners Qi Chun and Ge La to use electric batons to shock and beat Mr. Cheng violently, which caused his nose to bleed and his face to become badly injured. When Mr. Cheng reported the abuse to the Camp Director, Mu Jianfeng, he criticized him by saying: "There is no lack of people who stubbornly refuse to admit their mistakes!"

On December 6, 2001, in the Third Brigade, Cheng Changlin and ten other practitioners who were forced to attend a brainwashing session refused to agree to or participate in publicly defaming Falun Dafa and instead clarified the truth of the persecution to Mu Jianfeng, who was conducting the brainwashing. With the assistance of more than ten other labour camp personnel such as the heads of all section offices and the Brigade Chief of the Third Brigade, Mu Jianfeng took the practitioners to the police dormitory and beat them for over two hours. Groups of two or three people, beat up one practitioner. They stomped on practitioners, kicked them, punched them, slapped them across the face and shocked their entire bodies with electric batons. After two hours, all seven practitioners had collapsed to the ground.

Mr. Cheng was beaten repeatedly. His whole body was shocked simultaneously by four electric batons, causing his body to become unsteady, his mouth to be swollen, and his mind to be disoriented from the trauma. He was taken back to his room. He went on a hunger strike to protest for seven days and became very weak. Police officer Liu Jun force-fed him. The police moved Mr. Cheng out of the brigade since they were afraid he might die. The seven practitioners, including Cheng Changlin, could not go downstairs for meals for another 23 days because they were injured so badly.

As of August of 2002, the Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp had cruelly persecuted Dafa practitioners for more than two years. At that time, over 50 Dafa practitioners were detained, but no one gave up their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. So a new persecution tactic was adopted.

The First Brigade started with the new tactics on August 28. Mr. Cheng was isolated in a guardhouse and was not allowed to sleep. He went on a hunger strike to protest, but was beaten up and electrically shocked. After he was cruelly tortured for eight days, he was released from the guardhouse. The torture damaged Mr. Cheng's liver and he was hospitalized. He was transferred to another hospital but the treatment did not help. Two months later, in serious physical condition, the camp let his family take him home so they could avoid responsibility in case he should die.

Mr. Yang Fengyu, 50 years old, lived in Habiriga Town, Xi League, Inner Mongolian Province.

In January of 2001, Mr. Yang was sentenced to three years of forced labour because he went to Beijing to appeal. When he arrived, he was abused by the guards and prisoners. He was also beaten and shocked with batons.

At the end of January 2002, another incident of beating up Dafa practitioners occurred again in the Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp. Dozens of Dafa practitioners in the camp went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and requested a dialogue with Mu Jianfeng. In order to force practitioners to eat, all prisoners in the Second Brigade were restricted in their activities and required to sit on the bed with their backs held upright all day long. [This implication policy of punishing the common criminals and telling them it was because of Dafa practitioners' actions is a common tactic used to incite hatred against Dafa practitioners and create a hostile and dangerous environment. Also, it makes it easier for Labour camp officials to get prisoners to participate in the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners and thus the authorities have a group to shift the blame to should they be held responsible for their actions in the future.] Later, the brigade chief lied and said Mu would have a dialogue with the practitioners after the Spring Festival as long as they stopped their hunger strike. The practitioners decided that the Spring Festival was coming and all prisoners, including non-practitioners, would not be allowed to celebrate the festival if they did not eat. Therefore, Dafa practitioners ended their hunger strike as they didn't want to see the general prisoners punished during the holiday season.

When the Spring Festival was over, under Mu's order, the Brigade Chiefs of the Second Brigade, Zhong Zhiyuan and Liu Bin, handcuffed Mr. Yang Fengyu's hands behind his back and isolated him in a guardhouse. Mr. Yang was shocked and hit by batons for four days and four nights. They also ordered the prisoners to monitor and abuse him in turns around the clock. The prisoners who complied with their orders were rewarded with a decrease in their prison terms. In order to make noise so that no one would hear the beatings, the prisoners scraped the ground with iron pots or scratched glass with foam soaked in water, The prisoners were Gao Jianming, Gao Taibao, Yang Xuejun, Feng Yunsheng and Zhao Erjun. After being tortured for four days and four nights, Mr. Yang was brought to the office by Zhong and Liu. Liu stuffed Mr. Yang's mouth with a dirty rag. Then the two cruelly beat Mr. Yang who had already been through so much. One of his teeth fell out. They did not stop beating up Mr. Yang until he was forced against his will to write a statement breaking with Falun Dafa when he was barely conscious. On the next day, Mr. Yang took it upon himself to write a declaration to invalidate the statement he wrote through coercion on the previous day.

In August 2002, the camp used the reduction of prison term as a reward and ordered prisoners to continue beating up Dafa practitioners until all practitioners wrote letters renouncing their belief in Falun Dafa. Several days later, many practitioners were beaten. Yang Fengyu was beaten to the point that he could not get up from the ground. During the following weeks, he needed help to go to the toilet and could only walk by dragging his legs along.

Mr. Ma Yingju, 38 years old, lives in Duolun County of Inner Mongolian Province.

In September 2002, in the First Brigade, after Mr. Cheng Changlin was disabled and hospitalized, Mr. Ma Yingju was isolated in a guardhouse in the same way. He was not allowed to sleep for over 40 days. Since he was isolated and strictly monitored, the details of other torture means he suffered from are unknown. After more than 40 days of torture, he was compelled to write a "guarantee letter" [.A statement of giving up the practice of Falun Gong] when he was disoriented about what he was doing and under heavy pressure. Later, Mr. Ma took it upon himself to write a solemn declaration expressing that he would firmly cultivate Dafa and retracting any words he wrote against Dafa under force. Since that day, he has been forced to stand still day and night. The prisoners guarded him in turns and did not let him close his eyes. The Deputy Director of the camp, Yang Furong, hit and kicked him personally. Mr. Ma's hands were bundled together with a rope and put behind his back and then his whole body was hung up in the air. His legs were swollen and he became incontinent. He lost consciousness twice. After he regained consciousness, he was continuously forced to stand still. After he lost consciousness for the third time, he was given emergency treatment until he was out of danger. Through nearly a month's brutal torture (including the Chinese New Year Eve), the authorities were very shocked by Mr. Ma Yingju's indestructible righteous thoughts and in the end they gave up trying to brainwash him.

Mr. Yang Zhenqi, 32 years old, lives in Quanhe Village, Eerduosi City, Inner Mongolian Province.

In May 2001, Mr. Yang was detained. When he arrived at the camp, he was monitored around the clock. In June, the Chief of the Board Section, Sha Huiming, threatened him: "There are so many people in China. We can beat you to death and it would be just like trampling an ant, no one will care." At that time, the persecution in every brigade was severe. Many practitioners were seriously injured. During June and July, Mr. Yang suffered from all kinds of threats. On December 6, Mr. Yang and another six practitioners were beaten for over two hours by Mu and more than ten other persons. Mr. Yang's face, mouth, ear and neck were shocked, which caused his head to swell and his face to be charred. His hands were bleeding and his mind became disoriented. He collapsed on the ground and was dragged back to his cell. He could not go downstairs to have meals for 23 days.

On September 10, 2002, Mr. Yang Zhenqi and another five practitioners were transferred from the Third Brigade to the Second Brigade. Brigade Chief, Zhong Zhiyuan, presided over a mobilization meeting and yelled: "The Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp will fulfill 100% of our 'Transformation Ratio.' When one practitioner arrives, we will transform him. After we transform all the practitioners here, we can transfer those practitioners who have not been transformed from labour camps all over the country to here. We can forcibly transform them all." After the meeting and under the order of the camp leaders and the Brigade Chief of the Second Brigade, Nine prisoners, including Hong Jinjun, Hao Aisuo and Jiang Xiaoping tortured the practitioners. Mr. Yang was hit and kicked which caused his breath to become short and difficult. He was injured very badly. He was given treatment in Wuyuan Hospital for ten days but there was no improvement. He was transferred to another hospital but his health still did not improve. Finally, the camp had his family take him home.
