On the 14th March, a Dutch national TV Station broadcast a programme about Falun Gong which was produced by “Network”. It was arranged to be broadcast during the “Current Affairs Review” programme.

Network positively commented on Falun Gong’s first appearance in China, its popularity, the large number of practitioners and the persecution. After its introduction to the public in 1992, Falun Gong was immediately very popular all over the country and attracted almost seventy million practitioners, outnumbering the membership of the Chinese Communist Party. Therefore, the CCP saw it as a big threat. They banned Falun Gong in 1999. However the really inspiring and heartening thing was that the commentator used the video recording at the scene of the self-immolation as conclusive evidence to point out that the “self-immolation” was fabricated.

At the start of the programme, the TV station surprisingly played the video of the reporter’s interview with Chen Guo and her daughter. This clip was taken from the propaganda programme that the Chinese Communist Party used to deceive the international media, which was once broadcast in Holland in May 2003. Nevertheless, the analyst commented, “In May 2003, photos of a mother and her daughter after their self-immolation were shown. They said themselves that they were Falun Gong practitioners.” Immediately after that they broadcast a vital section from the documentary False Fire. In the process of broadcasting this clip, not only did they maintain clear, audible commentary explanations throughout, but they also added a Dutch commentary and inserted Dutch subtitles at key points.

This kind of commentary, with principles and evidence, allows TV audiences to clearly perceive that the “self-immolation” broadcast by CCTV (China’s Central Television) was purely a lie spun by the Chinese Government to slander Falun Gong and the “Interview Discussion” schemed behind the scenes by the CCP three years later was even more spurious. This programme allows TV audiences to decide for themselves what is true or false and recognises the Chinese Communist Party’s immoral intention to agitate the public’s hatred towards Falun Gong with fabricated deceit, circumvention and malign motives.
