On the morning of Friday the 8th of April, the peaceful sounds of Falun Dafa music spread through the Brno streets of Novobranska and Josefska. Practitioners from all over the Czech Republic, supported by a group of practitioners from England, gathered in Brno to tell the local people about the Chinese Communist Party‘s campaign of genocide against Falun Gong in China.

Simulations exposed some of the methods of torture used in cruel attempts to force Falun Gong practitioners in China to renounce their beliefs. Other practitioners in traditional golden suits demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. Both of the displays attracted a lot of attention and the contrast between the two left a question in people’s minds: why are people being tortured in these brutal and inhumane ways for practising these peaceful exercises? The people of Brno approached practitioners to find answers to their questions and get more information.

When people saw the poster boards, many instantly understood the purpose behind this anti-torture exhibition, the likes of which many of them had never seen on a public street before. Detailed information about the persecution of Falun Gong, which has lasted for six years and taken over 1,700 innocent lives, left people astounded. Many people signed the petition calling for an end to the human rights abuses against China’s Falun Gong practitioners and for the instigator behind the atrocities, former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, to be brought to justice in a court of law. Close to four hundred signatures were added during the day to the petition and many people stated their wish to help the persecuted practitioners.

A report about these activities was published in the local media. The Czech national TV station “Ceska Televise” interviewed practitioners about Falun Gong and the reason behind the persecution. The report was broadcast to the whole country.

Czech national radio “Cesky Rozhlas” had reported on Falun Gong before when similar activities were held in Brno. This time their report covered more in depth topics such as Falun Gong’s popularity around the world and the purpose behind the anti-torture exhibition.

A reporter from “Pravo” newspaper came to take pictures and get information so that he could help in spreading the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution of innocent people. The media attention allowed this activity to reach not only the thousands of people in Brno who received a flyer that day but also people all over the Czech Republic.
