An eventorganised by the "Ireland Quitting the CCP Assistance Centre" was held in Dublin city centre on 10th December 2005. The rally aimed to support the 6 million people who have now publicly renounced their membership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliate organisations.

Some Irish Falun Gong practitioners joined the event to protest against the CCP’s six-year persecution against the Falun Gong spiritual practice. At least 2,791 people have lost their lives, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained and/or abused by Chinese police, up to 1 million have been illegally sent to forced labour camps without trials and over 38,000 specific cases of torture or severe abuse have been documented by human rights workers.

The information boards and the video of “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” attracted a lot of people’s concern. They signed the petition to express their sympathy for the persecuted Chinese practitioners. Here are some of the words people left on the petition:

A storekeeper: “Communism is the same as tyranny, which never works out but always collapses eventually.”

A doctor: “I don’t support Communism.”

A technician: “Human rights should be given to everyone.”

A teacher: “Everyone should have their belief, their freedom of speech.”

A student: “I believe people will see a free China, so I’ll do my best to help.”

A lot of people wrote: ‘Good luck’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Keep working’, ‘Human rights and Freedom’, ‘Everyone should have human rights and freedom’, ‘Free China’, give people freedom’ etc. Many people were shocked and they couldn’t believe that such a brutal persecution could still happen nowadays.

“Nine Commentaries on the Communist party” was published by The Epoch Times newspaper last year. It is the most accurate and in depth expose of the CCP’s fifty years of brutal rule over the Chinese people and includes a section about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
