Practitioner Ms. Li Qinglian, female, 63, lived in the Xiawuqi/Tianxinzhuang Village, Tianjin City. On October 18th, 2000, Ms. Li Qinglian went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was arrested and taken to a police station where she was first monitored and later transferred to a detention centre. She was held there for half a month. In December 2000 and on January 15th, 2001, she went to Beijing again to appeal, but she was found and arrested. She was taken to and held in a detention centre. After she was released home from the detention centre, Li Sen (male) and Liu Wang (male) were sent by the Township Official to her home to harass her, and attempted to force her to write a Guarantee Statement to give up the practice of Falun Dafa.

On March 3rd, 2001, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Central Government was having a meeting in Beijing City. Ms. Li Qinglian was taken to a brainwashing centre in the local township where she was monitored continuously for five days. On March 8th, 2001, she was taken to the plum factory brainwashing centre. Police applied all types of means to physically torture her.

Since Ms. Li Qinglian refused to give up the practice of Falun Dafa, she was taken to a detention centre on April 15th. On May 21st, she was taken to the Banqiao Forced Labour Camp. On June 1st, she was taken to the Jianxin Forced Labour Camp, where they tried all types of brutal torture methods, such as beating, cursing, strenuous physical labour, as well as other types of corporal punishment.

By March 2003, due to the persecution, Ms. Li Qinglian suffered from hypertension, and on March 18th, 2003, she had a stroke. The authorities had to take her to the hospital for emergency rescue. When they had no other choice, they finally let her family members take her home. Ms. Li has become handicapped due to the severe torture and can no longer take care of herself. Despite this, the forced labour camp still sent people to "have conversations" with her. The local town government and the village CCP cadres still constantly monitor her secretly. Ms. Li Qinglian still refuses to cooperate with them.
