On February the 9th 2007, German Federal President Mr. Horst Kohler returned to his alma mater, the University of Tübingen, where he earned his PhD in economics and was conferred with the title of honorary professor. He visited the University along with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and their objective was to meet students and discuss topics relating to Europe’s future.

Before they entered the University’s library a Falun Gong practitioner studying at the University presented the German President with a petition calling for an end to the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong. The president repeatedly said “thank you.” When the Italian president looked at what was going on with curiosity, the practitioner also presented him the report on the investigation into the Chinese communist regime’s harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and other related material in Italian. Finally the practitioner also called on them to help stop the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong and Mr. Koehler responded by nodding his head.

The translation of the petition the practitioner handed to the German President is as follows:

Your Excellency President Koehler:

I sincerely welcome your visit to your alma mater. In 2004 before you were elected as president, I listened to your speech here, in which you made references to my home country China, a country that is usually regarded as an economy with a tremendous growth rate.

However, much to my surprise, not only can people buy cheap commodities from China, but they can also promptly and easily purchase fresh human internal organs there. In recent years, many patients from Canada, Japan, South Korea, etc. have flocked to China for organ transplants in groups. Though it has been confirmed by various sources, some still hold a sceptical attitude towards it. It is unbelievable that such an inhuman crime could be happening. As a matter of fact, it is happening though.

Everyone can conduct a simple investigation by just making a phone call to any big hospital in China, pretending that he or she is a patient who is interested in having an organ transplant there. By doing so, they may be surprised to find that any human internal organ is available for several thousand dollars. In Germany, it may take several years to obtain a donated organ, but in China it simply takes a short period ranging from several days to a couple of weeks. As a Chinese national, I know that my countrymen are seldom willing to donate organs due to conventional notions. It is inconceivable that, without a systematized “live organ bank” supported by the government or military, such an abundant supply of organs could be maintained.

Many people I have met have asked what the German government has done to thwart the Chinese communist regime’s atrocities of harvesting organs from living humans to sell for profit. They just cannot figure out how the world can have hope if individuals or nations turn a blind eye to this unforgivable evil atrocity.

I would like to call on you and the German government not to simply regard China as an economic partner for business benefit and please take note of the serious human rights abuse taking place there and try to stop it. Please take effective measures to put an end to this atrocity.

Respectfully yours,
