Someone ignorant of the facts about Falun Gong reported practitioner Ms. Yu Suye who is from Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province, to the police. The incident happened as she talked about Falun Gong to people in a market in Puji Township on October 3rd, 2007. Personnel from the Puji Police Station then arrested Ms. Yu and ransacked her home.

During the morning of October 4th, officers from the Zhangqiu City 610 Office1 took Ms. Yu to the Jinan City Detention Centre. They sentenced Ms. Yu to one and a half years of forced labour on November 3rd. She is presently being held at the Jiangshuiquan Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jinan City.

Prior to practising Falun Gong, Yu Suye suffered from severe asthma and various other illnesses and was unable to take care of her daily needs. After she began practising Falun Gong in 1998, Ms. Yu quickly regained her health. Following her arrest, the policemen tried many times to force her to give up her belief, but in vain. Finally, the policemen intended to compel and cajole her to report another practitioner, and promised her if she did so they would release her. Ms. Yu refused.

During Ms. Yu's incarceration in the forced labour camp, the guards have detained her in solitary confinement to persecute her. Her family members have been to the forced labour camp and requested to meet with her. However, the guards have denied their request with the excuse that Ms. Yu is too firm in her belief.
