Germany: The President of the German Green Party Urges the German Chancellor to Discuss Human Rights with the Chinese Government

On October 26th it was reported by Voice of Germany that Chairman Volker Beck of the Green Party stated that German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel should be talking about China's human rights status with the Chinese Communist Party during her second trip to Beijing.

Mr. Beck said in the interview that he hoped that during this visit the issue of human rights would be discussed and that Chancellor Merkel should urge the CCP to approve the international covenant regarding civil and political rights which has been committed by the Chinese government. Without human rights and the rule of law, economic development can not last, because only the rights of people are to be protected, the long-term investment will protect itself.
