In the past I had hypertension, coronary disease, bronchitis, gastroptosis (the abnormal downward displacement of the stomach) and was losing my hair. My health was poor and I was weak. One day, I actually fainted when I was teaching in class. I was not even in my 50's and yet I had to retire and stay at home due to illness. In March 1995, I encountered Falun Gong. My husband started the practice together with me. We both experienced tremendous improvements in health and fitness.

In July 1999, the communist regime started to persecute Falun Gong. On the afternoon of December 26th, 2000, a few people including Guanshan Street "610 Office1" head Sun in Wuhan City, a policeman Li and a policewoman from Guanshan Police Station and a man named Tang from the Automotive Engine Company Security Department came to my house. They said that they had some matters to discuss with me and deceived me to leave my house. They dragged me into a car and took me to the Shizui Brainwashing Centre to be incarcerated for more than two months.

Shizui Brainwashing Centre is managed by Qian Youjian from Hongshan District of Wuhan City in Hubei Province. Later, it was managed by Zhang Xingzhi. When I was sick and bedridden, she didn't even allow a person next door to assist me. During my incarceration, my husband was under extreme mental pressure and he cried every day. He used to be very healthy but suddenly his health deteriorated.

In early March 2001, before I returned home, personnel from the brainwashing centre extorted 1200 Yuan2 from me.

After I got home, I wrote a letter exposing the persecution of Falun Gong to the persons-in-charge in the Shizui Brainwashing Centre. Zhang Xingzhi was not pleased. They photocopied my letter and gave copies to the Automotive Engine Company Resident Committee in Guanshan Street where I stayed and also the school that I used to work for. Thus, Jiang Xiaozhen, the head of the Residence Committee called to harass me. The school management also came to my house to give me trouble.

My husband could not take the mental pressure and was afraid that I would be arrested again. He wanted us to return to my hometown, so I took him to my younger brother's home. Guanshan Street 610 Office head Sun called my work unit and looked through my file. They found my hometown address. On March 28th, they went to my brother's home and asked me to come out. They dragged me to their car. I asked them why they arrested me when I was only visiting my relatives. They said that they would take me home. I refused to get into the car. At this time, I saw two cars parked along the road. They included Sun from Guanshan Street 610 Office, Wang (a policeman from the Hongshan District Police Department), police head and a policeman from Guanshan Police Station, Yang Xiuyun and Wang (surname) from the Residence Committee. They dragged me into the car and sent me to Erzhiguo Women's Labour Camp for half a month.

As I was once again arrested, my husband could not take the mental pressure. He had the symptoms of a stroke and was unable to take care of himself with difficulty in mobility. He became incoherent, could not talk and had difficulty swallowing his saliva. Even under these circumstances, Sun from Guanshan Street 610 Office still repeatedly called my house or sent personnel to harass my family members. Those who came to harass us included personnel from my work unit, from my daughter's work unit, people who used to be practitioners but have gone awry and Zhang Xingzhi.

On September 30th, 2004, my husband passed away due to shock and fear.

During the torch relay of the Olympic Games in 2008, personnel from Guanshan Street 610 Office and Residence Committee once again ransacked my home and arrested me.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
