Treasuring Sentient Beings Amounts to Treasuring Ourselves

I met two Chinese people today at my office, a brother and sister. We talked about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. It didn't take long for the brother to consent to the suggestion of quitting the Young Pioneers. He thanked me repeatedly.

In the past, I would have left it at that, but today something urged me to continue. His awakened Buddha nature urged me to help him remember "Falun Dafa is good!" I took the opportunity to tell him of the beauty of Falun Dafa and the cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Later I asked him to repeat after me, "Falun Dafa Hao (Falun Dafa is good)!" He read the words one by one-- "Falun Dafa Hao!" He again thanked me repeatedly.

His sister also agreed to quit the Young Pioneers under an alias, and thanked me when I told her to remember that Falun Dafa is good.

Not long ago, I came across a young man. After he completed his business affairs, we took the elevator to get downstairs together, and he thanked me for helping him. I asked him in passing, "Young man, are you in school or working?" He said that he was working, and added, "I am working in the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China." After we came out from the elevator, I asked him to wait for a minute because I wanted to go back to the office and get a gift for him.

I put a copy of the Nine Commentaries in an envelope and showed it to him. I said, "This is the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party." He immediately looked nervous. I looked at him sincerely, saying, "We are both far away from our homeland, so you and me are like relatives here. Please cherish this book and read it carefully, not for others but for yourself." I also said, "You are now living in a democratic country. This is a free land. It would not be this easy to read this book when you return to China."

He accepted the book and nodded. He told me that he and his colleagues knew that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. Though they kept silent, they were quite clear in their hearts.

I asked him if he was a member of the Chinese Communist Party. He said half jokingly, "How can I work in China's Consulate if I am not a member of the Chinese Communist Party?" I said, "Then you should withdraw from the CCP immediately." I gave him an alias and said, "Let's use this name to quit the CCP, the Youth League and the Young Pioneer." He nodded gladly and agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

I really feel grateful for Teacher's compassion. It's true: treasuring sentient beings amounts to treasuring ourselves.
