Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ai Qingfeng from Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province was forced to leave home to avoid being persecuted. Over a period of eight years, his fingers were constantly frozen in the cold temperatures with the ensuing result that he lost eight of his fingers and his ability to work. In 2009, he was arrested and was unjustly sentenced to five years in prison. Currently, he is held in Kanjiashan Prison, Shenyang City.

Mr. Ai Qingfeng is 54 years old and his home is in Dingjiabao Village, Liuerbao Town, Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province. Mr. Ai made a living by fish farming and through some other small businesses. He began practising Falun Gong in 1997 and he has benefited in a number of ways from the practice. He quit smoking and drinking and no longer had a bad temper. With his customers he always kept his word and he loved to help others. His fellow villagers had a great impression of him.

Because Mr. Ai would not give up his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, in 2001 officers from Tiexi Police Station Branch of Yanfen Street, Shenyang City went to his home many times in an attempt to arrest him. They did not succeed and he had to continually leave his home over the eight years to avoid persecution. In that time he lost his eight fingers in the cold weather; he only has two thumbs left.

On June 18th, 2009, Mr. Ai was arrested in the Qianjin Fish Market in Xinmin City by a group of police officers, including Liuerbao Town Police Station director Chen Fei, officer Guo Hui, and another officer with the surname Su. He was held in Liaozhong County Detention Centre for six months. Recently he was sentenced to five years in prison by Liaozhong County Court.
