Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Weiling and Ms. Wu Xiaofeng from Shanghai were sentenced to four years and three and a half years of imprisonment, respectively.

Li Weiling is the youngest daughter of Yu Peiying from Shanghai. Yu's eldest daughter, Li Weihong, who was also a practitioner, died as a result of physical abuse and torture during her detention. Ms. Li Weiling and her mother have been persecuted by Shanghai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents.

The court officials repeatedly changed the trial date, doing so at the last moment. The latest trial was scheduled for November 24th, but was suddenly changed to the afternoon of November 23rd.

Before they were arrested, Ms. Li went to visit Ms. Wu at home. Changning police first arrested Ms. Li and shoved her inside the door, but kept her handbag to search it. They didn't find anything they were looking for, so they lied and claimed they had found Falun Gong materials exposing the persecution and CDs in her purse and charged her. The police also coerced Ms. Wu to admit that she printed 20 copies of Falun Gong materials.

In court, procurators from the Changning Procuratorate tried to make the judge give Ms. Li a lengthy sentence. Although Ms. Li's attorney made a strong defence, at the urging of the Changning 610 Office, the judge sentenced Ms. Li to four years in prison and Ms. Wu to three and a half years.
