Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yao Jianping was arrested from her home and has been detained in Qilipu Detention Centre for over three months. Her health has deteriorated due to the mistreatment she is suffering in the detention centre. Her family have asked to visit her several times but have yet to be allowed to see her. There is a rumour that Ms. Yao will be put on trial, so her family has hired a lawyer to defend her innocence.

Around 9 a.m. on August 24th, 2011, police from the Xiangtan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Domestic Security Section, and Shuyuanlu Police Station of Yuetang Police Department tricked Ms. Yao and broke into her home. They ransacked the home and arrested her and another practitioner, Ms. Wu Xianmin, who was visiting at the time.

Ms. Yao worked at the Radio Management Committee in Shenzheng. After she started practising Falun Gong, she was a conscientious worker and did not have conflicts with others over personal interests. She didn’t fight or compete with others and always exercised forbearance. She was always willing to help others and was well respected by her peers and her supervisors. Her colleagues saw the worthy personal character of Falun Gong practitioners through her. They also learned the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. Her supervisors learned the truth from her and repeatedly forestalled attempts by the Shenzheng 610 Office to persecute her.

After retiring at age 50, Ms. Yao returned to her hometown, Xiangtang. As always, she helped former classmates and colleagues without asking for repayment. She also cared about fellow practitioners who were in difficulties. In her personal life, she was very frugal and still wore the clothes she had when she worked in Shenzheng.
