Ms. Huang Jiazhen, an engineer with the Hunchun Forestry Bureau in Yanbian City, Jilin Province, was recently sentenced to four years in prison. She is currently detained at the former Wangqing County Forestry Bureau Detention Centre.

Show Trial

On December 10th, 2011 Ms. Huang was tried in Hunchun Court. She had been detained for nearly half a year. The court deliberately delayed releasing information regarding the trial, causing her family to arrive late to the trial and effectively preventing them from speaking out on her behalf and defending her. No verdict was announced when the trial ended, but without further hearings or other legal proceedings, the court sentenced her to four years in prison. It was reported that for Falun Gong practitioners' trials, the verdicts had already been decided by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong).

Frequently Persecuted for Her Belief

Ms. Huang used to be a construction engineer in the Jilin Province Hunchun Forestry Bureau. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, she had difficulty carrying out her job responsibilities because of her constant illnesses. After practising Falun Gong, she became healthy and a nicer person. After the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, the Hunchun Forestry Bureau 610 Office and the Forestry Police Department started monitoring her and bugging her phones. They not only frequently harassed her at home, but they also harassed her child at school. The regime agents seized and detained her several times whenever “sensitive dates” rolled around and sentenced her to forced labour twice. This constant harassment and disruption of their lives has greatly harmed her and her family.

The authorities have persecuted her financially, as well. The Forestry Bureau withheld her wages for 11 months, from April 2002 thru April 2003, and later for 17 months, from April 2004 thru October 2005, causing her and her family great difficulties. It was reported that her wages are now kept at the Forestry Bureau 610 Office, and, in order to get paid, she has to go to the 610 Office in person.

Torture, Interrogation and the Family Destroyed

Around noontime on November 29th, 2001, with the direct involvement of Forestry Bureau head Zhen Jianghe, Party head Pu Binglong, and Political and Judiciary Committee head Li Fu, the police seized Ms. Huang and took her to the Forestry Police Department. A policewoman punched and kicked her severely, and as a result her legs were covered with bruises and turned purple. The police then tortured her by handcuffing her to two metal gates and kicking the gates open wide, until she was suspended off the ground in the shape of a cross with only her toes touching the floor. Her hands quickly turned black. They kept her hung up like that during the day and tortured her at night.

She escaped from the detention after two days and nights and moved from place to place to avoid further persecution. Four months later, her husband petitioned the Hunchun Forestry Court for a divorce on the grounds that she was missing. Three months later the court approved the divorce, which violated the law. After a year and three months, Ms. Huang finally returned home at the end of February 2003, but her family was no more.

Detained in a Forced Labour Camp Twice

Forestry Bureau head Zhen Jianghe, Political and Judiciary Committee head Zhang Yuhua, Forestry 610 Office agent Ma Qingshan, and the Forestry Police Department colluded with the Hunchun City 610 Office and on April 12th, 2004, City 610 Office head Peng Shumin and five or six police officers from the Domestic Security Division including Liu Hong seized Ms. Huang from her office and sentenced her to one year of forced labour.

The Forestry Bureau authorities once again colluded with Yanji City Police Department. On September 1st, 2009, three officers from Chaoyang Police station, led by Cheng Lijin and one officer from the Forestry Police Department, broke into Ms. Huang's parents' home. They dragged Ms. Huang out by her hair and took her away, and once again sentenced her to one year of forced labour.

Twice at the labour camp, Ms. Huang was subjected to the following tortures: electric baton shocks on the head and neck, prolonged standing, forced to do excessive hard labor, force-feedings, and the death bed torture for seven days and nights. She was extremely weak from the torture.

Seized Again While Collecting Her Wages

Ms. Huang lived in Yanji City after being released from the labour camp the second time. On July 26th, 2011, Forestry Bureau Political and Judiciary Committee colluded with Yanji Police Department to arrest her when she went to get her wages. They took her to Yanji and interrogated and detained her on the same day. The next day, on July 27th, they broke in to her home and ransacked it.

The related departments in Yanbian fabricated lies to frame Ms. Huang. To keep the persecution a secret, they took Ms. Huang away and detained her at the former Wangqing County Forestry Detention Centre.

The former Wangqing County Forestry Detention Centre is an old building in a remote location. In order to keep the persecution a secret, the perpetrators specifically use this isolated place to lock up Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Huang has already been detained there for half a year. Thus far, it is unknown what kind of tortures she is being subjected to.
