On January 11th, at about 10 a.m., Ms. Liu Xiuqing from the Dagang District of Tianjin went to neighbouring Doujiazhuang to distribute New Year's blessing pictures with information about Falun Gong. She was reported to police by members of Doujiazhuang Joint Guard Team including Dou Li, Dou Ruxiao, Dou Rufeng, and Dou Shuyan. Officers from the Taiping Town Police Station took her away. She was then transferred to the Detention Centre of Dagang Police Department.

On January 19th, at about 10 a.m., Ms. Liu’s husband went to Dagang Police Department to bring her a change of clothes. The guard on duty told him there was no detainee named Liu Xiuqing. He suggested that Ms. Liu’s husband go inquire at the Taiping Town Police Station. Her husband went to the Taiping Town Police Station that afternoon. The officers were in a meeting which lasted from about 2 to 5 p.m. He asked Gao Xianghuai where they had sent Ms. Liu. Gao Xianghuai said, “Did you not receive the notice? She has been sentenced to one year of forced labour. She was transferred to the Tianjin Lockup Centre (located near Caozhuangzi in the Xiqing District) this morning.” He also emphasized, “I tried my best, but she would not sign the statement to give up Falun Gong. I can't do anything about it. I am not the person who makes the decisions.”

Sun Xueming, chief of Zhaizhuangzi Village, said, “Liu Xiuqing did not sign the document to giving up the practice of Falun Gong at the Dagang Police Department. She was sent to the Tianjin Lockup Centre, and she will be transferred to the Banqiao Forced Labour Camp.

Without any official notification, Ms. Liu was sentenced to forced labour. The only “evidence” was a handwritten note by Gao Xianghuai, chief of the Taiping Town Police Station. In the face of such outrageous behaviour on the part of the authorities, Ms. Liu’s husband clearly saw just how evil the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is. At first he could not understand why his wife distributed Falun Gong materials. Now he said from his heart, “Now I really feel my wife did nothing wrong.”
