Falun Gong practitioners Yao Juying, Tang Renya, and Gao Yuzhen, were arrested by police on June 30th, 2011, and have been detained since. The officials in charge of persecuting Falun Gong at the Shanghai government have set a trial date for the three practitioners at 9 a.m. on February 6th, 2012.

There are two possible venues for this trial: One is the Baoshan District Detention Centre, 2101 Yueluo Road, Shanghai, and the other is the Baoshan District Court, 15 Youyi Road, Shanghai. In the past, the persecutors held actual trials prior to the time that they had notified concerned people.

Ms. Yao Juying was a teacher at the Qibao High School in Shanghai with a reputation of being kind and warm. She was someone who took care of her family members and friends when they were seriously ill, which moved many people. However, because of her steadfast belief in Falun Gong, a cultivation practice which aims to upgrade people's morality and lead them to return to their true nature, Ms. Yao has been arrested and detained.

On June 30th, 2011, the 610 Office staff (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the police from the Baoshan District, Shanghai, broke into the place where a group of Falun Gong practitioners were studying the Falun Gong teachings together. They arrested many practitioners including Yao Juying, Tang Renya, and Gao Yuanzhen, without leaving any information about the perpetrators so that the practitioners' families could not find out who was responsible for the arrest or where the practitioners were being detained. Through considerable effort, the families finally found out that the responsible person was Yang Yuefei, a police officer with the Domestic Security Group in Baoshan District. That same day, Yang Yuefei, followed by two dozen local police officers, also searched Ms. Yao's home.

Ms. Yao is currently being detained in the Baoshan District Detention Centre. When Ms. Yao's lawyer visited her in the detention centre, Yang Feiyue threatened the lawyer to give up the case and called his efforts useless.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Renya, in his 60s, is a resident of Songnan, Baoshan District, Shanghai. He was arrested by the Baoshan police on November 24th, 2000, and was then sentenced to three years in prison on April 26th, 2001. He was tortured in prison. On May 19th, 2005, he was arrested again at home in Village Five, Songnan, Baoshan District. He was then sentenced to imprisonment for four and a half years and was imprisoned at Group Eight, Section Three of the Hongzehu Prison in Jiangsu Province.
