On the morning of February 25th, 2012, police officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Baoding North City District Police Station entered a residence by force in broad daylight. They arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Guiying and confiscated her personal belongings, including a desktop computer, a laptop computer, printer, compact discs, Falun Gong books, cash, a wage card, mobile phone, jewellery, and private documents. Ms. Wang's home was left in disarray. The money set aside by Ms. Wang and her siblings to pay for their mother's hospital bills was also taken. The police officers not only refused to return the money, but also threatened that they would sentence Ms. Wang to prison. She is currently detained at the Baoding City Detention Centre.

Benefited tremendously from practising Falun Gong

Ms. Wang had many illnesses before practising Falun Gong, such as severe emphysema, a chronic cough, asthma, and she often vomited blood. She was on medication constantly and frequently hospitalized. Ms. Wang suffered tremendously from her poor health. She couldn't ingest anything except for milk, and even that would cause her to feel bloated. She could only have a few sips of milk at a time and then had wait for it to digest before she could have more. Ms. Wang wasn't capable of working or doing any household chores. Her husband had to take care of her and the chores after he got home from work. Ms. Wang's mum also stopped by often and helped with cleaning, laundry, and preparing meals.

Ms. Wang's husband had a very good job. He took good care of Ms. Wang and did everything according to her wishes. Their daughter was smart and considerate, and at a very young age she knew how to take care of her mum. She helped her mom with small jobs, such as bringing in water and her medications. Ms. Wang had been looking for and practiced a few types of Qigong in hopes of improving her health, but nothing helped.

One day in 1994 while walking down the street, Ms. Wang saw a banner with the symbol of Falun Gong and a group of practitioners. She joined them for a little bit just to try it out and felt really good physically. Someone in the group gave her a copy of the Falun Gong book Zhuan Falun. As soon as she got home, Ms. Wang started reading and was fascinated by the many principles explained in the book. As she read, she was more and more drawn to the book and reading it made her happy. As time passed, she forgot about taking her medication, forgot about her illnesses, and forgot about the time. She felt great mentally and physically, and she never felt so happy and relaxed. The next day, she found a practice site right away and started practising Falun Gong. From then on, Ms. Wang strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as taught in Zhuan Falun. She became more thoughtful, considerate and more understanding of others. She learned to be more tolerant when she encountered conflicts. Her health improved tremendously. At her workplace, everyone knew that Ms. Wang used to be seriously ill and that she regained her health by practising Falun Gong. Since beginning the practice, she hadn't taken any medication, been hospitalized, or requested reimbursement from her workplace for any medical expenses. Everybody was happy for her and saw for themselves that Falun Gong was extraordinary. Ms. Wang's co-workers couldn't help but to praise and promote Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang became a completely different person and her spirits were high. She was full of energy and took over the household chores. Instead of her mom helping her with her chores, she was able to help her mum instead. She did laundry for her husband and her daughter, cooked, and prepared water for them to wash their feet. Their family was full of happiness.

Subjected to years of persecution

In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong. Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She hoped to use her own experience of benefiting from Falun Gong to explain the facts to the government and petition for permission to practise. However, even before she reached her destination, she was arrested and taken back to Baoding, where she was detained.

Because Ms. Wang remained steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and continued to practise Falun Gong, she was repeatedly harassed, threatened, and arrested during the more than 10 years of persecution. She was forced to leave home by the CCP officials of Baoding City. Her husband was often harassed by the upper management at his work and by local police officers. They interrogated him about his wife's whereabouts, demanded that he take a position against his wife's practice, and threatened him with loss of his job if he didn't get a divorce. The ongoing persecution placed Ms. Wang's husband under tremendous pressure and had a serious impact on his life and work. Baoding City Court officials pressured him to get a divorce. While Ms. Wang was away from home and not available to sign the paperwork, the court forced them to divorce. A loving married couple was thus separated and a happy family was broken apart. The authorities also frequently went to Ms. Wang's parents' house to harass and threaten her parents and younger siblings, placing the entire family under a lot of pressure.

The Baoding City CCP authorities considered Ms. Wang a key target of persecution because she refused to give up Falun Gong and continued to tell people of the goodness of the practice.

In August 2002, Ms. Wang was arrested by the Baoding City CCP authorities. As if treating a major criminal case, the local police department and 610 Office organised a high security lockdown and set up tight security checkpoints and blocked any information about Ms. Wang's situation. They interrogated and tortured Ms. Wang. She was forcibly injected with unknown drugs, and as a result became unconscious. Ms. Wang was nearly dead before she was released.

After being released, Ms. Wang was not capable of taking care of herself. She could not move or get out of bed. Her mom had to feed her. It was very painful for her mom to watch her daughter suffer through such severe persecution. She was heartbroken.

For a year, there was no news about Ms. Wang and rumour had it that she had been persecuted to death, but Ms. Wang survived. Her mother attentively cared for her and nourished her by feeding her little by little. Ms. Wang's survival was nearly miraculous.

The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance rooted in Ms. Wang's heart gave her inspiration and strength. She asked her mother to find a copy of Zhuan Falun and read it to her. As soon as she could move, she resumed doing the Falun Gong exercises. She stood up again because of the mighty power of Falun Gong. “Ms. Wang Guiying is not dead.” This news spread quickly by word of mouth. Ms. Wang had poor health since she was little and never finished elementary school. Due to her limited education, she never exposed the persecution that she had suffered.

Ms. Wang has now again been arrested by the authorities and detained. Falun Gong is the cultivation of the Buddha Fa. All who participate in the persecution are committing crimes and violating the laws of heaven. Any attempt to use “following orders” as an excuse only fools the perpetrator. Top level CCP officials Bo Xilai and Wang Lijun severely persecuted Falun Gong and their current political disgrace is an example for all who persecute Falun Gong. Nobody can escape from the consequences of committing evil.

We hope that all people pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the CCP in the Baoding region.
