Ms. Wang Qinghua is 61 years old. She is a farmer from group 12 in Yonghe County, Wanchun Township, the Wenjiang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She used to have many health problems, including heart disease, a frozen shoulder, and after-effects from a car accident. In 1998, three months after she started to practise Falun Gong, all of these disappeared without any medication.

On January 9th, 2012, Ms. Wang Qinghua, Mr. Cai Linchang, and the daughter of Ms. Wang Yi—all practitioners—took a taxi to visit Ms. Wang Yi, who was detained at the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre. During the visit, when Wang Yi and her daughter were talking, Wang Qinghua saw that Wang Yi's hands were severely chapped and cracked, so she went with Cai Linchang to buy hand lotion at a shop across the street. Because the salesperson was very friendly, they told her about Falun Gong, and told her to remember, “Falun Gong is good! Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” Then they gave her an amulet.

After Wang Qinghua left, the salesperson immediately gave the amulet to Bao Xiaomu, who worked at the brainwashing centre. Bao Xiaomu detained Mr. Cai Linchang and Ms. Wang Qinghua in an office for more than two hours. Bao Xiaomu demanded that Ms. Wang Qinghua agree to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] Ms. Wang Yi, but she refused. Then they interrogated Ms. Wang Qinghua and asked her if she was a Falun Gong practitioner. She nodded. Bao realized that Ms. Wang Qinghua was also a practitioner and it would be impossible for her to “transform” Ms. Wang Yi. She immediately took Ms. Wang Yi back, and then searched Ms. Wang Qinghua and Mr. Cai. They took away Ms. Wang Qinghua's ID and cell phone (which have now been returned). They contacted the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). After more than two hours, two police cars came, one from the Hesheng Township Police Station, the other from the Shou'an Township Police Station. Since Mr. Cai Linchang is from Hesheng Township, he was taken away by the Hesheng Township Police.

Ms. Wang Qinghua was taken by five policemen to the Wanchun Police Station and then transferred to the Shou'an Police Station. At around 4 p.m., seven police officers took her back to her home in Yonghe County. With Ms. Wang Qinghua restrained by two policemen, the rest proceeded to ransack her home. They made a big mess and took away two DVDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and her Falun Gong books.

Ms. Wang Qinghua was taken to the Shou'an Township Police Station, and her daughter was also tricked to go there. The police interrogated Ms. Wang and asked her where she got the DVDs, and Falun Gong books. She said, “Everything you took was my personal property, which is protected by law. You have no right to take them. Regarding my practising Falun Gong, it is legal. Falun Gong is an advanced Buddha cultivation school, which will only benefit the country and people. Practising Falun Gong not only brings good health, but also improves people's morality.” They took what she said on a computer as “evidence” for detaining her. They never returned the DVDs, or Falun Gong books.

They then took Ms. Wang Qinghua to the Wenjiang District Hospital for a physical. They never showed her the results. Late that night, they admitted her to the Yongsheng Detention Centre. For a whole day, they did not give her anything to eat. Later Mr. Cai Linchang was also transferred to the Yongsheng Police Station. They were released and returned home after 15 days of detention and persecution.

The Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Ms. Wang Qinghua caused her and her family great distress. While she was detained, both of her daughters were at work. Her two grandsons, four and six years old, had to stay with a neighbour because nobody was home to care for them.
