The Swedish Falun Dafa Association (UK) has written to the Japanese Prime Minister Junichirou Koizumi to seek his intervention to secure the release of Japanese Falun Gong practitioner Mrs. Yoko Kaneko. The text of the letter is as follows:

Honourable Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi,
The Prime Minister of Japan

Your Excellency,

Kindly allow me to bring your attention to the plight of Yoko Kaneko who is detained in a Chinese labour camp.

Yoko Kaneko is a 38 year-old Chinese citizen. She has been living with her Japanese husband, Mr. Atusi Kaneko, in Niigata, Japan. She is also registered as a resident of Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, China. Her Chinese name is Luo Rong.

In May 24 2002, the Beijing police arrested Yoko, together with two other Japanese Falun Gong practitioners, when they were distributing leaflets appealing for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. The two Japanese women who were forcibly sent back to Japan on May 25, but Yoko was detained.

Their actions were actually noble and harmless to everybody. Out of compassion, they left the comfort of their homes attempting to help the thousands of innocent men, women and children who are unjustly persecuted in China. Many of them have been tortured to death.

The exact whereabouts of Yoko is unknown but we fear that her life is in danger. Yoko should not be punished for her attempts to help others by peaceful means.

We, earnestly, beg your Excellency to help Yoko to return home to her anxious husband in Japan.

Yours very sincerely,
