  • Practitioners from Hongxing Airplane Manufacturing Company in Shijiazhuang City Subjected to Persecution

    On July 8th, 2008, Mr. Liu Rongfa, in his sixties, and his wife, Ms. Yin Yanxin, husband and wife were arrested and police ransacked their home. They were first detained at the Shijiazhuang Administrative Detention Centre and then, after more than ten days, Liu Rongfa was taken to a forced labour camp. He was tortured and subjected to physical and mental harm. His blood pressure shot up, and the forced labour camp staff notified his family and told them to post bail for medical treatment. They have yet to release him. Yin Yanxin was transferred to the Shijiazhuang City Women's Prison and denied family visitation. Her situation is unknown.
  • Renowned Chinese Oil Painter Mr. Fan Yiming Imprisoned for Practising Falun Gong

    Before the Olympics, the Chinese Communist regime used the Games as an excuse to arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. In mid-July 2008, Beijing police arrested renowned oil painter Mr. Fan Yiming and sentenced him to two years of forced labour. Mr. Fan's artwork has been exhibited in China and abroad, with many famous people in Europe and America purchasing his art.
  • A Village Party Secretary in Hengshui City Persecutes Ms. Li Huanyun

    Li Jianru, male, is the Party secretary of Lidezhuang Village in Hengshui City, Hebei Province. During the Beijing Olympics, officials and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Township government ordered him to monitor Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Huanyun. Instead, Li Jianru directed others from CCP-related departments to arrest her. Two days before they arrested Ms. Li, Li Jianru brought in others to investigate how to get into her home and also examined her satellite dish on top of her house. The day they arrested her, the police parked their car near the village and then walked to her home to arrest her. She is now detained in a detention centre in Wuqiang County. They have sent her case to the local CCP Procuratorate and Court, and she is facing further persecution
  • Mr. Liu Xiyong Persecuted Repeatedly in Dalian City

    Since the Chinese Communist Party started its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Liu Xiyong went to his city government to tell them about the wonderfulness of Falun Gong and the benefits he gained from practising. He was persecuted three times by Shihe police officers and the Shihe Town government. In 2002, he was sentenced to two years and imprisoned at Dalian Forced Labour Camp. During that time, he suffered through torture, being locked up in a small cell, and forced to sleep in a "Dead Person's Bed" for over 40 days. The torture caused him to lose the ability to take care of himself. In July 2008, he was arrested and taken to Sanli Detention Centre. Two months later, the centre still refused to let his family members visit him.
  • Practitioner's Wife Arrested

    Mr. Wu Buo is a Falun Gong practitioner from Changtu County, Liaoning Province. On October 1st, 2008, policemen from the Changtu County National Security Brigade and Daxing Township Police Station broke into his home at around 8 p.m. Wu Buo was not at home, so the police took his wife, Zou Dangmei, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, to the police station, with no apparent reason and without going through any legal procedures. Zou Dongmei was detained at the police station until the next day. This was the second time she was arrested this year.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Wan Yonghong and Other Practitioners Employed at Qian'an City Industrial and Commercial Bank of China

    Li Zhengzeng was the director of the Qian'an Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Since three practitioners worked at the bank, at his first all staff meeting, he threatened that he would not tolerate any of his employees practising Falun Gong. In October of 2007 over forty practitioners were persecuted in Qian'an City, the three practitioners working at the bank were among them. On October 9th, 2008, police officers went to Ms. Wan Yonghong's workplace, one of its bank deposit branches. They arrested her, then ransacked her home and confiscated some of her personal belongings. At the police station, police brutally tortured Ms. Wan. They shocked her with electric batons for more than two hours.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Songfang Sentenced to Four Years in Prison in Guangdong Province

    On February 21st, 2008, Ms. Li Songfang was arrested by the local police. After searching her home and harassing her family members, the police confiscated some Falun Gong materials and over 200 yuan in cash. In June 2008, the police secretly interrogated Ms. Li, and without going to trial, sentenced her to four years in the Guangzhou Women's Prison. When her family received news of her imprisonment, they were devastated. Her husband was grief-stricken and found it very difficult to concentrate on his day-to-day life. Once he absent mindedly walked outside his home and stumbled to the ground, unable to get up.
  • Mr. Yang Jianzhong, 70 Years Old, Persecuted in Wenjiang, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province

    Seventy-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Yang Jianzhong was formerly a senior cost engineer at Factory 7111 of the Aeronautics Department in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. Nevertheless, being controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, Factory 7111 issued an order in March 2008 to forcibly take Yang Jianzhong to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre and make him renounce his faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Under tremendous pressure Yang Jianzhong left his home at the beginning of April and lived a homeless life. Yang Jianzhong secretly returned home on July 6th. On July 7th, Factory 7111 personnel forcibly took Yang Jianzhong away.
  • Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping Secretly Sentenced in Dalian City

    On March 20th, 2008, the police arrested Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping when they were telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a local village. Police officers ransacked the two practitioners' homes and confiscated their personal belongings. The police tried to deceive them during the interrogation. After being detained for over six months, Ms. Gu was secretly sentenced to three years and Ms. Qiu to four years in prison. Both have appealed their cases.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Xu Dongyu and Huang Xungui Arrested by Police

    On the evening of September 28th, 2008, practitioners Xu Dongyu and Huang Xungui were reported to the police as they handed out leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Yikou, Xingzi County. They were arrested, and currently are still detained at the Xingzi County Detention Centre. On October 6th, family members went to the Xingzi County Police Department to ask for the release of the practitioners. The police department's door was locked from the inside and no one was allowed to enter, so the family then went to the Xingzi County Detention Centre. The police from the detention centre first yelled at them. But they continued to ask, so they were finally allowed to visit the two practitioners, however neither was released.
  • Two Mothers of Young Children Sentenced to Forced Labour in Guangdong Province

    In mid-August 2008, the Chinese Communist Party 610 Office in Lechang City, Guangdong Province, arrested two young mothers, both Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Gong Xuejun is the mother of an 18-month-old and Ms. Yu Shanzhen has a three-year-old. They were each sentenced to two years of forced labour and taken to the notorious Sanshui Women's Forced Labour Camp. Since the day Ms. Gong was arrested, her family hasn't stopped trying to reason with the departments involved, rain or shine. Everyone has given them the same answer: "The 'government' has made the decision. We can't do anything."
  • After Zhang Huirong's Arrest, His Wife Suffered a Mental Collapse

    Since 1999, the year when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Huirong has been homeless. He was arrested four times despite having left home. Now, his hands and feet have deep marks from being shackled for long periods of time. He has returned home only once since the beginning of last winter. During the Beijing Olympics, when Mr. Zhang was repairing his car in his garage, several police officers showed up and arrested him. They handcuffed him and put him in the car after ransacking his home. Mr. Zhang called out, "Police officers are arresting good people!" After his wife witnessed her husband's arrest she became terrified and suffered a mental collapse.
  • Recent Incidents of Falun Gong Practitioners Being Arrested by Police in Daqing City

    Ms. Jiang Fengqin, 56, was arrested at home while she was looking after her grandson. Her home was ransacked. The persecutors ruthlessly tortured Ms. Jiang. They put mustard oil on a mask and put it on her mouth. They also rubbed mustard oil directly into Jiang Fengqin's eyes, nose and mouth. This caused her to be unable to breathe, with great pain and tears running from her eyes. She subsequently lost consciousness. Jiang Fengqin was sentenced to eight years in prison.
  • Mr. Guo Daoyou Arrested in Qinhuangdao City, Family Without Support

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guo Daoyou, 51, has been arrested on July 18th, 2008 for practising Falun Gong. After the officials ransacked the home they lured Mr. Guo to the police station telling him that he could have his things back and arrested him instead. That night, he was taken to the Funing County Detention Centre where he has been held ever since. The family has not been allowed to visit him. Mr. Guo's salary is not very high but he is nevertheless the sole support of a family of four who now face financial trouble. The two children may even be deprived of their education.
  • The Impact of the Persecution on Self-Employed People from Longkou City in Shandong Province

    On the evening of July 5th, 2008, 30 police officers from the Domestic Security Brigade in Longkou City in Shandong Province arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Guo Weidong and Ms. Luan Kefen, a married couple. They have been detained at Zhangjiagou Detention Centre to this day and are undergoing torture. Both are self-employed and in the retail business and since their arrest couldn't carry on with their family business. Ms. Luan's mother was terrified after her daughter was arrested and ended up being hospitalized, which further added to the stress on Luan's family.
