  • Mr. Ai Lihua and His Family Brutally Beaten and Sentenced to Forced Labour

    Mr. Ai Lihua, his wife Ms. Gu Junqing, and daughter Ms. Ai Xuelian, were arrested on July 30th, 2009. At the police station, the police began roughly taping Mr. Ai's ankles together, then used his belt to tie his hands behind his back. After that, they taped his arms close to his body then brutally beat Mr. Ai, while they tied him to the "tiger bench". While Ms. Ai was being interrogated, she was slapped on the face over ten times then dragged by her hair and slammed into a wall. An Chunfa slapped her face an additional ten-plus times then kicked her and hit her with a water bottle. Later, Mr. Ai Lihua was sentenced to 15 months of forced labour, and Ms. Ai was sentenced to one year of forced labour.
  • Qu Mingzhu Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labour, Her Family Broken Up

    On July 3rd, 2008, police raided the workplace of Ms. Qu Mingzhu, found Falun Gong materials and arrested her. During her detention at the labour camp, Ms. Qu and other practitioners were forced to do hard labour every day for 12 to 13 hours. One time the work involved hand selecting toothpicks. If the workload was not finished at the end of the day, captain Huo Shuping ordered everyone to bring their work back to their cells and continue to work on it until midnight. During Ms. Qu's detention her husband could not stand the pressure from various authorities and left home with their child to live in another city.
  • Practitioner in Duolun County, Inner Mongolia Arrested by National Security Bureau

    On September 8th, 2009, the National Security Police arrested practitioner Mr. Cao Feng while he was working in Shanghai and took him back to Duolun County. He is now imprisoned in the Duolun County Jail. In past years, he and his family were continuously persecuted by the police. In 2003, a warden shocked him with electric batons. His neck and face swelled up with large blisters. He was subsequently extorted out of 4,500 yuan before his release.
  • Police from Cangzhou City and Huanghua City Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners

    On the evening of September 7th, 2009, the Cangzhou City and Huanghua City Police Departments in Hebei Province arrested eight Falun Gong practitioners. On September 7th, more than a dozen police officers broke into the home of Ms. Pu Shuhui, 62. They ransacked the home, and confiscated all of Ms. Pu's Falun Gong books and materials, as well as a personal computer. The police also threatened Ms. Pu's children. Eventually Ms. Pu was released on bail awaiting trial.
  • I Was Arrested and My Husband Died From Shock - First-Hand Report of How I Was Persecuted

    I was not even in my 50's and yet I had to retire and stay at home due to illness. In March 1995, my husband started the practice with me. We both experienced tremendous improvements in health and fitness. In December 2000, police deceived me to leave my house. They dragged me into a car and took me to the Shizui Brainwashing Centre to be incarcerated for more than two months. During my incarceration, my husband was under extreme mental pressure and he cried every day. He used to be very healthy but suddenly his health deteriorated. When I was arrested again my husband had a stroke. On September 30th, 2004, my husband passed away due to shock and fear.
  • Mr. Liu Zhongquan Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment; His Wife Sentenced to Forced Labour

    On August 12th, 2008, Mr. Liu Zhongquan and his wife Ms. Liu Zhenxian went to visit Mr. Wang Jinglun. As they were reading the Falun Gong book Zhuan Falun at Mr. Wang's home, they were arrested by police. That night, Mr. Wang's home was ransacked. Mr. Liu was detained and held in the First Detention Centre of Bin County. Ms. Liu Zhenxian was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour and is being held in the Qianjin Labour Camp of Harbin City. Their son, now in secondary school, has been left home alone to fend for himself. On December 1st, 2008, the Bin County Court brought Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Zhongquan to trial. Despite the defence, judges sentenced Mr. Liu to four years of imprisonment.
  • Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Judge from Longjiang County, Heilongjiang Province Warns: Appealing (Unjust) Sentence Means Extended Prison Term

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Jinghe was arrested on May 8th, 2008 by police from Longjiang County. On June 11th, 2009 he was sentenced to three years in prison. The judge at the Longjiang County Court threatened him, "Don't appeal your case. If you do, your case will be handed back for re-trial and you will receive an extension to your prison term." Nonetheless, seeking justice, Mr. Yu's younger brother filed an appeal with the Intermediate Court of Qiqihar City on August 4th, 2008. Due to unclear facts and inadequate evidence in Mr. Yu's case, the court called off the original judgement and ordered a re-trial at the court where Mr. Yu was originally convicted.
  • Mr. Yin Sirong from Chengdu City Secretly Sentenced to Forced Labor Camp

    Mr. Yin Sirong, a practitioner from Chengdu city was arrested by police officers from Wanzhou District Public Security Bureau, on July 31st, 2009, while he was at the home of another practitioner in Chongqing city. He has been on hunger strike ever since. At the time when the police submitted an application to send Mr. Yin to a forced labour camp, they also refused his lawyer's request to meet with him, stating that they were still awaiting confirmation that the person arrested was in fact Mr. Yin Sirong. On September 3rd, 2009, Mr. Yin was sentenced to the notorious Xishanping Forced Labour Camp.
  • Xu Xianping is Arrested Again

    Ms. Xu Xianping, 43, has been a Falun Gong practitioner since 1996. In April 2002, Xu Xianping was arrested and her home was searched. Later, she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. In the Harbin Women's Prison, Xu Xianping was tortured with solitary confinement, hung up, beaten, and forced to sit on a cold cement floor for eleven days. In spite of the serious scurvy caused by the torture, she was not released until 2006. On August 7th, 2009, she was reported to the police for having talked with people about the persecution of Falun Gong and arrested. Xu Xianping is currently being detained at the No. 2 Detention Centre of Hegang City.
  • Older Practitoner Ms. Shi Xiuyan from Tangshan City Sent to Forced Labour Camp

    oOn July 6th, 2009, Shi Xiuyan was posting messages regarding the persecution of Falun Gong near a bank in the west part of Fengrun city, when she was suddenly abducted by policemen. Li Chunyuan, vice director of the Fengrun Public Security Bureau led six or seven policemen and ransacked her home. They confiscated her printer, computer, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. She was detained at the Fengrun Detention Centre and subsequently given a two-year sentence in a forced labour camp. On August 4th, 2009, she was secretly taken to the Tangshan Kaiping Labour Camp.
  • Ms. Shi Yingxia, Principal of Dianshi Computer School in Wuhan City, Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment

    On September 12th, 2008, more than 30 plainclothes police officers arrived in eight police cars at the Dianshi Computer School in Wuhan City. They damaged huge amounts of property and took away many computers and other valuable items. All the employees of the Dianshi Computer School were arrested and their residences were also ransacked. A few hours before, the police had stormed into the residence of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shi Yingxia, the principal and legal representative of the computer school, and taken her away. Ms. Shi was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. She is now in the Wuhan City Women's Prison.
  • "Where Is the Justice?" Husband Asks After His Wife is Arrested

    Veteran Falun Gong practitioners Ms. He Tao, a retired doctor from Northeast University Medical Hospital, and Ms. Mao Juan, a retired worker from Shenyang Railway Bureau, were both very healthy and kind. On August 10th, 2009, they and their friends Liu Ping and Zhang Huilan, were arrested by police in Shenyang City, while they were resting in a corn field in the Zaohua Town area. At present, no one knows where they all are, and the family members are extremely worried.
  • Trial of Mr. Li Yonghong, Mr. Yu Bin and Ms. Xu Li Pushed Ahead by Two Days in Chengdu City

    On September 2nd, 2009, the Qingyang District Court in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province held a trial against Mr. Li Yonghong, Mr. Yu Bin, and Ms. Xu Li. Mr. Li and Mr. Yu pleaded innocence. They exposed the mistreatment they had suffered since they were arrested in August of last year, such as extortion of a "confession," beating (two teeth of Mr. Li were knocked out), sleep deprivation for six days and nights and more. The court, however, sentenced the three practitioners to between two and three and one half years in prison. The trial was originally scheduled for September 4th, but was pushed forward by two days to avoid public attention.
  • Mr. Yang Jinmiao and His Daughter Unjustly Sentenced--Another Daughter Detained

    Mr. Yang Jinmiao, 70, was reported by the Yangjing Neighbourhood Night Patrol Team when he was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on June 4th, 2008. He was arrested and taken to the Yangjing Police Station. Mr. Yang's daughter, Ms. Yang Hairong, who happened to be home, was also arrested. Ms. Yang was sent to the brainwashing centre, where she was held until the Olympic Games were over. She was tortured her with sleep deprivation for five consecutive nights. On February 11th, 2009, the Pudong New Area Court held a public hearing of Mr. Yang and Ms. Yang's cases and sentenced them to a three-and-half-year term, despite their defence lawyers' pleas of not guilty of any crime.
  • Government Worker from Linghui City Statistics Bureau Arrested Again

    On July 20th, 2009, six policemen arrived in two cars, and broke into Mr. Jin Bowen's workplace and attempted to arrest him. At that time, Jin was taking time off at home, so police officers ordered his manager to call him back to work. The police then forcibly arrested him and took him to the Domestic Security Brigade in Linghai City Police Bureau. The next day, police officers ransacked Jin's home. They confiscated his computer, Falun Gong books and a large number of his personal belongings. The police have sent the so-called "case" to their local court. Mr. Jin is currently detained at Linghai City Detention Centre.
