  • 65-Year-Old Ms. Wu Fengying Brutally Beaten in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp - Belated Information

    Sixty-five-year-old Ms. Wu Fengying was sent to Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City in 2002. While there she was forced to do labour, was savagely beaten, and had six of her teeth knocked out. In 2001 she was also detained in a detention centre. She recalls the persecution: "We were given food with grass, coal dust, and rat droppings in it, as well as sparse vegetable soup with flies, ladybugs, and caterpillars the size of my little finger. Furthermore, we were forced to work the field, dig up dirt, feed hogs, sweep the floor, wipe the windows, wash cars, and do laundry for the guards."
  • In Violation of the Law, the Heping District State Security Department Refuses to Release Ms. Shu Dongan

    The Heping District State Security Department's charges against Falun Gong practitioner Shu Dongan were rejected twice by the local Procuratorate. But the State Security Department still refused to release this 56-year-old woman after she was detained for nearly five months. According to the law, if the same case is rejected twice by the Procuratorate, the person should be released unconditionally.
  • After Persistent Efforts, Family Finally Allowed to See Brutally Mistreated Loved One at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Sun Yi was arrested by officials prior to the Beijing Olympics. Later, they transferred him to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. His family discovered that Sun Yi has been brutally tortured for the last two years in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Through difficult negotiations, Sun Yi's sister was able to see him on March 26th, 2010, through a thick piece of soundproof glass, but could not talk to him. The meeting room was monitored by almost ten guards, creating an atmosphere of terror. Sun Qing saw her elder brother, who was being helped by others as he could barely walk. He no longer looked like a young and strong person, he looked pale, and seemingly had no energy to talk.
  • Award Winning Taxi Driver Zhang Chen, 55, Persecuted and Sentenced to Three Years

    Once taxi driver Mr. Zhang Chen started practising Falun Gong in 1999, his neck pains disappeared. As a Falun Gong practitioner he also lived by the universal principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, and this helped rid him of his bad temper. From then on he always considered others first. Soon, his company recognised the profound changes in Mr. Zhang, and he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Professional Driver." When the persecution started in July 1999, Mr. Zhang appealed for an end to the persecution and was detained and tortured. In October 2009, Mr. Zhang put up another banner saying "Falun Gong Is Good", and was arrested and to a detention centre, where he was brutally beaten. He was sentenced to three years at a court hearing.
  • Prosecutor Disregards the Law in Trial of Mr. Zhao Wuhu

    On April 23rd, the Xiong County Court in Hebei Province tried Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Wuhu. In court, the prosecutor said many things that had no legal basis. The spectators said that the prosecutor's conduct was shameful. Mr. Zao Wuhu was an excellent worker, and was rated a superior performer several times. He has been detained in the Xiong County Detention Centre since his arrest by officers from the Xiong County Police Department on September 28th, 2009. During the trial, Mr. Zhao had intended to describe his experience of practising Falun Gong and the benefits he obtained during his turn to speak as a defendant, but was repeatedly stopped by prosecutor District Attorney Su Guoqing.
  • Miao Chunhong and Li Qingzhi Given One-Year Forced Labour Terms

    Mr. Miao Chunhong, who is more than 50 years old, and Ms. Li Qingzhi, who is about the same age, went to Qingshantun to distribute leaflets explaining the truth about Falun Gong so that the Chinese people could understand the unreasonable persecution and what Falun Gong is really about on January 31st, 2010. They were reported and arrested by police. They took Mr. Miao and Ms. Li to the Binxian Detention Centre. They were each sentenced to one year of forced labour on March 2nd, 2010. One of them was to be sent to the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, and the other to Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City.
  • Mr. Geng Huaipu of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Sentenced

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Geng Huaipu was arrested on April 3rd, 2009, in Tongling City, Anhui Province, by over a dozen officials and police officers. The police suspended him from the window bars by his handcuffs overnight. The next day, police transferred him to Tongling City Detention Centre. He was detained there for two months. He was then sentenced to three years in prison. Geng Huaipu had previously been persecuted twice in forced labour camps, once for two years and the second time for three years. His elder brother, Geng Huaihao; his mother; and his sister-in-law, Shi Zhonglin, have all been persecuted to death by the authorities.

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Wenguang on January 14th, 2010. The Hebei District Court tried her on April 27th. During the court session, Beijing lawyer Jin Guanghong presented a compelling two-hour defence on behalf of Ms. Jia: "My client Jia Wenguang and other practitioners of Falun Gong are all law-abiding citizens. Their practice of Falun Gong does not disrupt any implementation of the law or administrative regulations, or any public interest or the interest of others; on the contrary, they have gained physical and mental health and raised their moral standards through the practice. Their promotion of Falun Gong to others is also an indirect contribution to society. At the same time, they have become more kind-hearted and more willing to help others."
  • Ms. Wang Lan, 56, Tells Her Story -- Ten Years of Persecution

    Ms. Wang Lan was co-ordinator of the Yunan Province Falun Gong Volunteer Learning Centre before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution. On July 20th, 1999, the day the persecution began, Ms. Wang experienced her first arrest and home search. Two days later, she was arrested again and detained for 100 days. On January 23rd, 2001, she was arrested and held for 15 days. The authorities attempted to forcibly "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her. Her "transformation" story was altered to fit propaganda and reported in major news media. On July 28th, 2005, she was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison. Her pension, benefits, and insurance have been revoked.
  • Ms. Liu Xinru Held 9 Months on False Charges in Beijing's Fengtai District Detention Centre

    Ms. Liu Xinru, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, has been held in the Fengtai District Detention Centre for more than nine months. On March 26th, 2010, the Fengtai District Court put her on trial and attempted to convict her of false charges. Two attorneys defended her with a plethora of evidence clearly showing that the authorities generated fake evidence to frame her. The attorneys asked for Ms. Liu's acquittal and release.
  • Shenyang Court Brings Falun Gong Practitioners to Trial

    Trials were held on April 19th - April 21st, 2010 in Shenhe District Court, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province for Mr. Wang Yuchun, Ms. Ma Guoqi, and Ms. Guo Hongyan respectively, Falun Gong practitioners from Shenyang City. On September 24th, 2009, police officers arrested Mr. Wang Yuchun at his workplace and later took him to the Shenhe District Detention Centre. On September 22nd, 2009, police took Ms. Ma to the Shenyang City Detention Centre, where she was detained for over seven months, and not allowed any visitation from her family.
  • I Suffered Severe Persecution at Jinan Women's Prison

    After I decided to become a Falun Gong practitioner and cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was unjustly arrested on October 15th, 2006, and sentenced to twelve years in prison. I was jailed at the Jinan Women's Prison on April 23rd, 2007, and that same night, transferred to the group training team that specialised in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Every day from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, prisoners controlled by the guards bombarded me with brainwashing attempts. Since I refused to accept the so-called "transforming" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong], they tried punishing me by forcing me to stand for long periods, depriving me of sleep, beating me, and cursing me, all to force me to give up being a Falun Gong practitioner.
  • A Handicapped Elderly Woman's Defence Arguments at her Trial in Kaifeng City

    Recently, the court in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, tried a handicapped elderly Falun Gong practitioner. The practitioner represented herself and requested that the court drop all charges and release her. Since July 20th, 1999, she has been arrested, jailed, sent to forced labour camp, imprisoned, and had money extorted from her. In July 2009, she was arrested by officers from the Longting District Police Station in Kaifeng City. Agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) took her to the Tonxu County Detention Centre and have held her there ever since.
  • Police from Changsha City Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

    Five practitioners, including Liu Peilan and Li Zhigang, were arrested by officials from the Qiaoyi Police Station on the evening of April 17th, 2010. In order to coerce confessions from them, three male practitioners were tortured for several hours by police. The police severely beat the practitioners, squeezed their throats, twisted their hands, batted at the practitioners' faces and kicked their legs. One practitioner's leg was beaten so severely that it bled continuously and copiously and the blood even flowed out of his woollen long johns. One practitioner is still currently detained at Wangcheng County Detention Centre. Officials from the Domestic Security Division have forbidden his family members to visit him, and ransacked his home.
  • Mr. Dong Shaotai, Almost Seventy, Sentenced to Seven-Year Prison Term

    On April 13th, 2010, Mr. Dong Shaotai, a 68-year-old practitioner who had been detained for more than six months, was tried in the Shuangliu County Court in Sichuan Province. Two human rights lawyers from Beijing overcame many difficulties to valiantly defend their client. In the end, the court followed the dictates of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and sentenced Mr. Dong, who had been persecuted almost to death, to seven years in prison. In reality the outcome of the trial had been decided long before the trial began.
