Doctor Ms. Zhang Hui's Plight in Guangdong Women's Forced Labour Camp

Ms. Zhang Hui is a retired doctor and a Falun Gong practitioner. In September 2007, after she put up some Falun Gong flyers in a public area, she was arrested. One month later, she was sent to the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp in Guangdong Province. During her labour camp term, the 60-year-old woman was subjected to a variety of tortures. She recounts: "Criminal inmates often tortured me. One day drug offender Zhang Hua grabbed my arms and bent them behind my back with all her strength. The pain was unbearable. After a while, I lost feeling in my arms, and my elbows swelled up and turned purple. I was later sent to Sanshui Hospital, where a CT scan revealed a head injury and a broken bone at my lower back." -
Ms. Pan Fen Recounts the Persecution She Suffered
2010-01-24Six police officers broke into my home on September 29th, 2006, and ransacked it, making everything a mess. They took away my personal belongings, such as Falun Gong books, a computer and a printer, and confiscated three thousand yuan. They took my non-practitioner husband and me to the Changsheng Police Station. I was then persecuted at a detention centre for more than 40 days and then sent to a forced labour camp. I couldn't study the Falun Gong teachings and practise Falun Gong exercises while in detention. My former illnesses returned. As I went to the toilet one morning I fainted and fell down. The police doctor there had no pity on me and kicked me with full strength, saying I was pretending to be ill. The guards still forced me to do heavy physical labour and I had a heart attack. -
Jinchang District Court Rejected Mr. Lu Tong's Appeal
2010-01-24Mr. Lu Tong was sentenced to four years in prison by Jinchang District Court in Suzhou City on December 17th, 2008. His daughter, Lu Yan, and his attorneys appealed for him. The court held a hearing on December 10th, 2009, but refused to reverse the sentence and made things difficult for the attorneys. On July 4th, 2008, the 50-year-old Mr. Lu was arrested by officers from the Caixiang Police Station and put in Wuxi City Prison after the court sentenced him. Prior to this, he was once held in Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province and brutally tortured. His daughter, Lu Yan, was once jailed too, in trying to rescue him. -
Three Practitioners in Jixi City Receive Heavy Sentences
2010-01-23On November 10th, 2009, the Jiguan District Court tried Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Xinchun, Ms. Zhong Li, and Mr. Liu Xuegang. The court adjourned at 4 p.m. Four lawyers defended the case. The prosecuting attorney had difficulty responding because of the complete testimony by the defence. The evidence provided by the prosecuting attorney was incomplete. Although the case involved illegal issues such as forged records by the police, inconsistent evidence, extorting a confession by torture, and improper incitement of the law, the court circumvented the law and sentenced Mr. Wang to nine years of imprisonment, and Mr. Liu and Ms. Zhong to eight years. -
Mr. Liu Cheng from Yi County, Liaoning Province Tortured During His Three Imprisonments
2010-01-23Mr. Liu Cheng is a practitioner who has been imprisoned as a forced labourer three times. During his three imprisonments, he suffered numerous tortures, such as brutal beatings, hung up by hand cuffs, sleep deprivation, electric shocks, iron chair, "buckle poking soft ribs", "scratching muscle seam", "gripping testicle", "five horses splitting a body", "lasting stretching", "hang thousand weight at waist". -
Ms. Wang Yuelan Arrested in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province
2010-01-23On January 4th, 2010, when Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yuelan was posting posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, she was arrested by security patrol officers. Huang Liang, head of the police station, took her to the police station. Ms. Wang has been persecuted many times. On July 4th, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal. Police officers handcuffed and dragged her into the police van at Jiangxi Liaison Office in Beijing. There are still scars on her wrists from this incident. After bringing Ms. Wang from Beijing to Jiangxi, the police sent her to Jiujiang County Detention Centre. When Ms. Wang asked to have the confiscated Falun Gong books returned, she was force-fed a highly concentrated solution of salted water by Rao Hongyan, head of the detention centre. -
Repeated Persecution Suffered by Ms. Dong Xiuqiong from Huili County, Sichuan Province
2010-01-22In March, 2007, a fellow practitioner and I went to a small town to distribute leaflets and tell people the facts about Falun Gong . We were reported by a villager and police tried to arrest me. I would not go with them. Yang Shaoliang dragged me on the ground for several metres. Later they detained me in the detention centre. On March 12th, Liu Jianping interrogated me. They handcuffed both of my hands. When they could not get answers for their questions, he took a book and slapped my face hard with it twice. At the detention centre, since I did not agree to give my fingerprints, the director of the detention centre ordered criminals to put shackles on my feet. -
Mr. Jiang Shanliang and Ms. Tong Li from Shenzhen Face Trial
2010-01-22Mr. Jiang Shanliang and his wife Ms. Tong Lin were recently married. Ms. Tong found a good job due to her outstanding work performance and talent. She is friendly and the company staff think highly of her. Ms. Tong and another Falun Gong practitioner were arrested on the afternoon of January 12th, 2008 by police. Police took them to the Bao'an Detention Centre. Ms. Tong was released in early 2009. Ms. Tong and her husband were again arrested at home on September 12th, 2009. The couple is currently being held at the Jiuwei Detention Centre. The authorities were scheduled to try them at the Bao'an District Court on January 18th, 2010. -
Ms. Han Shujuan Arrested at Home, Sick Father in His 70s Left Unattended
2010-01-21Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Han Shujuan from Jianshanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province was with her sick father at home on January 10th, 2010, when more than a dozen police officers suddenly broke in and attempted to arrest her. Ms. Han resisted the arrest. An officer beat her, and Ms. Han shouted loudly, "Police beat good people." The police eventually took her away, and her paralysed father was left home with no one to look after him. Ms. Han's husband was not home. Ms. Han is now being held at the Beihao Detention Centre (also a brainwashing facility). -
Li Yuhua from Yilan Town of Heilongjiang Tortured Brutally
2010-01-21Li Yuhua has been detained four times since 1999. She was detained in the No.2 Detention Centre of Yilan Town for 267 days, where the food, such as corn buns and cabbage soup, was dirty and contained grass, soil, rat faeces, flies and other contaminants. She was also sentenced to a four-year term at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province. Between 1999 and 2003, she was detained at a detention centre or forced labour camp. In a detention centre she was force-fed. She recounts: "Two prisoners held my hands and others pinched my nose to stop my breathing through the nose. Another pinched my face. One used a chopstick to probe my teeth and another brushed my throat with a tooth brush. Then, they poured salt water into my mouth and I was almost asphyxiated." -
Falun Gong Practitioner Lai Jinming Arrested
2010-01-21Ms. Lai Jinming enjoyed a peaceful and happy life with her husband and daughter after her retirement. Because of her belief in Falun Gong, and its central principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, her life was destroyed by the Chinese Communist Party. On December 29th, 2009, Ms. Lai was talking to people about the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong, when she was arrested by police. On January 3rd, Ms. Lai's family members again went to the Chaoyang Police Station. When they asked a policeman, Li, when they planned to release Ms. Lai, Li simply asked, "How long was her sentence last time?" "One and a half years," was the reply. Li said, "So this time it it will be two years." -
Police in Handan City Arrest Mr. Ji Ruiling and His Sister Ms. Ji Junyun and Extort Large Sum of Money from Family
2010-01-21On September 18th, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Ji Ruiling and his sister Ms. Ji Junyun, as well as Mr. Ji's wife and son. The police took away more than 5,200 yuan in cash and a bankbook from Mr. Ji Ruiling's home. They confiscated two computers, a printer from Ms. Ji Junyun's home, as well as about 5,000 yuan in cash. On September 19th, the police sent Mr. Ji Ruiling and Ms. Ji Junyun to the Handan No. 2 Detention Centre, and they have been detained there ever since. -
Qufu District Court Tries Mr. Zhao Genfa
2010-01-20On December 29th, 2009, the trial of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Genfa took place in the First Criminal Court of Jining City in the Zhong District Court, Shandong Province. In the preceding days, Qufu Court officials changed the trial venue several times. This was not a case of an official need for a trial in a "different location." Qufu Court officials simply arranged to "borrow" a small courtroom that could only accommodate 20 to 30 people from the First Criminal Court of the Zhong District Court. These changes and postponements by Qufu Court officials suggest that they were trying to hide something, because this was the first time a Falun Gong practitioner had ever been tried in Qufu. It wasn't clear what kind of charges were to be filed against Mr. Zhao. -
Yinmahe Labour Camp in Jilin Province Subjects Practitioners to Brutal Torture and Hard Labour
2010-01-19While Mr. Yang Xingli was in the labour camp he was assigned to the "isolation division" where Falun Gong practitioners were closely monitored and brutally tortured. In order to force him to write the "four statements" promising to give up his Falun Gong practice, the guards first made him sit on a small bench for extended periods of time. At night, detainees assigned to monitor him showered him with fists and kicks. Seeing that he was not moved, they used sewing needles to prick his whole body, leaving needle pricks everywhere. The guards also beat Mr. Yang savagely on numerous occasions, three times being the worst. -
Mr. Hao Yin Sent to Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin
2010-01-19After many difficulties and setbacks, with the help of kind-hearted people, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hao Yin's three daughters have finally found out where he is. He was sentenced to two years and three months of forced labour and sent to Shuangkou Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin. The girls have travelled to the labour camp unsuccessfully three times trying to see their father. The girls' mother, Ms. Gao Yane, had been sentenced to three years in prison for speaking with people about Falun Gong and the persecution. She has lost the sight in one eye and hearing in one ear as a result of abuse.
