  • Multiple Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners in Liaoning Province Appear Linked to Olympic Games Preparation

    At 6 a.m. on February 25th, 2008, fifteen Falun Gong practitioners from Suizhong County, Liaoning Province were arrested at nearly the same time by the local police. The arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Huludao, Jinzhou, Chaoyang and other cities in Liaoning Province also happened near the same time. they were all detained in detention centres. Some detained Falun Gong practitioners are going on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

    Ms. Wang Qi, a 30-year-old health care professional, was arrested by the District Public Security Bureau while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. She was detained in Hexi Detention Centre and later was sent to the forced labour camp in Huhhaote City for two years. She has a five-year-old son who had never been without his mother before. Now, in the absence of his mother, imagine how he feels! His mother also misses him very much.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners in Dehui City, Jilin Province Arrested to "Prepare" for the Olympic Games

    On March 6th, 2008, police officers from Dehui City Police Department, together with people from the Changchun City Police Department, arrested two practitioners in Dehui City. The police went to the Chalukou Town No. Eight Middle School. These persecutors arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Chen Xuedong and Geng Jisheng, both of whom are teachers at the school. From there, the police went to Chen Xuedong's house and ransacked it. They confiscated a computer, a printer, a colour inkjet printer and some other personal belongings. They also beat Chen in his own home. According to a source, Chen Xuedong was sent to Changchun City for further persecution.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Zhu Lanying in Baoding City, Hebei Province

    On February 19th, 2008, Ms. Zhu Lanying and another two practitioners were reported when distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They are now detained in the Baoding City Detention Centre. Ms. Zhu was previously detained in Baoding City Detention Centre in 2001 her legs, hips, and back turned blue from cyanosis, a condition caused by lack of oxygen in the blood, due to persecution she suffered. Her elderly mother was grief-stricken by the persecution of her daughter and worried about her so much that she passed away in May 2001.
  • Police in Mengying County, Shandong Province, Sentence Elderly Practitioners Ms. Wang Fafeng and Ms. Wang Zaifeng to Forced Labour

    Ms. Wang Fafeng and Ms. Wang Zaifeng, two elderly practitioners in Mengying County, Shandong Province, were arrested when they were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The local police took them to Shandong Province No. 1 Women's Forced Labour Camp for an 18 month sentence. The police also broke into Ms. Wang's home, ransacked it and confiscated a bundle of leaflets exposing the persecution, Falun Gong books, a TV and DVD player. They also smashed her portable stereo and stole 200 yuan in cash. The policemen punched and kicked her husband and stuffed him in the boot of the car.
  • My Persecution Experiences at the Hands of Domestic Security Team Officers from the Yueyangluo District Police Department

    On November 2nd, 2007, a security person from the First Middle School in Yueyang City reported me as I distributed leaflets exposing the persecution around the school. Officers from the Yueyanglou Police Station arrested me and then took me to the police department. They interrogated me for six hours, then sent me to the Yueyang City First Detention Centre. Once there, they searched me, and confiscated my personal belongings, which had a value of 1,600 yuan. While I was being interrogated seven police officers ransacked my home. They confiscated my Falun Gong books and CDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and other items. They told me that this was the "evidence" against me. While I was in the First Detention Centre, the guards instigated inmates to beat me because I didn't cooperate with their "education and reform" policy. They bound me spread-eagle to a wooden board for three nights and two days.
  • Li Chuanyu from Juancheng County, Shandong Province Arrested Two Years Ago, Whereabouts Unknown

    Mr. Li Chuanyu, a 40-year-old, Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested by police from the Public Security Bureau of Juancheng County in the summer of 2006. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Mr. Li Chuanyu lived in a poverty-stricken county. He is disabled, his wife suffers from mental illness, and his daughter is ill. Nevertheless, the county police repeatedly broke into his home and extorted thousands of yuan from his family every time he was released from police custody.
  • Relatives Try to Rescue Beijing Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Qi Wei

    On February 22nd, 2008, Qi Wei was forcibly taken away by police officers from Anzhen Police Station. It has been 14 days and there has been no word from him. His family has not received any legal documents from the police station. At about 9:20 p.m. on February 22nd, when Mr. Qi and his newly-wedded wife were out for a walk, four plainclothes officers approached suddenly and, without presenting any ID, started kicking and beating Mr. Qi. They forcibly took the couple to the police station. At 3 a.m. on February 23rd, Mr. Qi's wife was released after vigorous protest from her family. Mr. Qi's family and friends have searched everywhere for him, but authorities at the police station, detention centre, and Chaoyang Public Security have told them they didn't know where he is. It is not known whether he is still alive or not.
  • Zhuhai City 610 Office Continues to Persecute Ms. Zhao Juanjuan

    On January 3rd, 2008, six or seven police officers broke into Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Juanjuan's home and ransacked it. They took away his printer, Falun Gong books, leaflets exposing the persecution, and other personal belongings. On January 18th, Zhao Juanjuan was accosted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police again on the street. Four police officers (three male and one female) forcefully lifted her into the vehicle and took her to the Third Detention Centre in Zhuhai. Because Zhao Juanjuan exceeded the age limit, the detention centre did not accept her. Another detention centre also refused to accept her. Since none of the detention centres would accept her, she was taken back home at 5pm, but was treated brutally by police.
  • Liu Changrui from Mengyin County, Shandong Province Arrested, Detained and Fined by Communist Party Officials Five Times

    On March 5th, 2001, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) held its national conferences, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Changrui was forcibly taken away by police officers and CCP officials from the town government. He was locked in a cold cement warehouse. There were no bed covers and cement powder covered the ground. He could only squat or stand, and he was not allowed to use the toilet. Mr. Liu was locked up there for over 20 days. During the daytime, he was forced to work in the fields, planting potatoes, cleaning and planting trees.
  • 56-Year-Old Mr. Zhang Dongxing and His Wife Harassed and Arrested in Chiping County, Shandong Province

    Mr. Zhang Dongxing and his wife have been threatened by local police many times since the persecution began. In May 2003, police scaled the walls of their house, dragged Mr. Zhang and his wife from their bed, and handcuffed them without letting them get dressed. The police searched the home and seized the couple's Falun Gong books as well as their new DVD player. They then took the couple to the County Detention Centre and held them for over a month. They were not released until they had paid several thousand yuan. In December 2007, police arrested Mr. Zhang once again. They also seized computer equipment stored in his home. Although Mr. Zhang had no computer knowledge, he was charged with making illegal overseas contacts on the Internet and sentenced to one year in the Shandong Province Second Forced Labour Camp.
  • Over Ten Falun Dafa Practitioners from Dehui City, Jilin Province Arrested

    On February 27th, 2008, the 610 Office, the Dehui City Police Department, and the Changchun City Police Department arrested more than ten Falun Dafa practitioners and detained them in the Dehui City Detention Centre. They ransacked the practitioners' homes, stole their personal property, and recorded them with video cameras while they were arresting them.
  • Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp Cruelly Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners

    Practitioners do forced labour every day. They get up at 6:00 a.m., brush their teeth, do morning exercise, have breakfast and then do forced labour with no breaks the whole day. They will finish the whole day's work at 9:30 p.m. at the earliest. If there is an urgent job, they usually have to work until 2:00 - 3:00 a.m. or even the whole night. When they sew mobile phone covers, they do not go back to their bedrooms for a whole week. If the practitioners refuse to work, they are punished by being forced to stand until 2:00 - 3:00 a.m. If they do not comply with the standing punishment, they are beaten with their hands and feet bound and their mouths taped, then dragged somewhere where no one can hear the noise.
  • Ms. Mao Jiangxin, in Her Sixties, and Ms. Song Xiaotang Cruelly Tortured by Wangcun Forced Labour Camp Officials

    Ms. Mao Jiangxin is in her 60s. The police sent her to Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp in early 2007. Because she refused to "reform," [give up Falun Gong]they locked her in a toilet, a specially built "small cell", with the windows and doors sealed. There is no air-flow in the toilet/cell and the foul odour is suffocating. Ms. Mao was often beaten and verbally abused by guards. In the winter the cell is as cold as a freezer. To reach the ordered "reform quota" and gain some petty profit, the three female guards attempted to force Ms. Mao to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Mao did not comply. Guards then ordered criminals to beat Ms. Mao's face and kick her body, making her fall onto the ice-cold floor.
  • Large Number of Beijing Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested Before Olympics

    According to sources from Beijing, from the end of 2007 to early this year, at least 100 Falun Gong practitioners with confirmed names (oftentimes practitioners do not reveal their true identity to protect family, friends and colleagues) have been arrested in Beijing. Some were immediately sentenced to eight months in prison. It is believed to be a new round of suppression by the Chinese Communist Party before the next session of the National Congress in March and the Olympics in August 2008.
