A western Falun Gong practitioner is participating in a Manhattan clarifying the truth activity. Under heavy falling snows, he unyieldingly and serenely raises a truth clarifying poster board. It reflects a cultivator's bearing of perseverance and benevolence.

Painting: Sincere Calling [11.05.2008]

The little girl in the painting was calling people's attention in the rain, hoping more people would learn the truth and thereby raising people's consciences to help stop the persecution soon.

Painting: Silent NightTears of an Orphan [09.05.2008]

The persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has caused numerous Falun Gong practitioners' families to be broken up and their members dispersed. The painting shows a child holding the ashes of her parents, who were persecuted to death by the CCP, holding back her tears. Her mind is filled with suffering and she has no idea what course to follow.

The young mother in the painting, while holding her soundly sleeping child, manages to find time to study the Falun Gong teachings. The painting illustrates that she cultivates diligently while busy in her daily household work. This is a preeminent characteristic of Falun Dafa.

Painting: Uncompromising Courage [10.04.2008]

This painting was based on a true story of Mr. Liu Chengjun. Mr. Liu Chengjun was a Falun Gong practitioner from northern China. In March 2002, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison for his involvement in broadcasting programs that exposed the brutality of the persecution against Falun Gong on Chinese television. After 21 months in prison, he was tortured to death.

Painting: Golden Lotus [09.04.2008]

The inspiration for this painting came from a true story that has raised an international outcry. A young mother named Lixuan Wang and her 7-month-old son were both tortured to death after they were arrested for practising Falun Gong. Autopsy reports revealed that the baby had been hung upside down and his skull had been crushed.

An Untitled Sketch [12.03.2008]

These pieces were sketched in secret by a Falun Gong practitioner who was ilegally detained in prison for his/her insistence in her cultivation. Created without any proper drawing materials, only 36 of the more than 70 pieces made it outside of China. Some were lost or damaged while being passed down from one person to another, and after much difficulty they finally arrived in the United States.

The heavenly beings in this painting represent all races and cultures. There are practitioners of spiritual practice of Falun Gong in over 60 countries around the world. Its practitioners represent every ethnic group and every walk of life. Although Falun Gong originated in China, the search for truth and enlightenment is universal.

The artist, Ms. Zhang Cuiying is an internationally acclaimed Chinese artist living in Australia. From an early age, Ms. Zhang was nurtured and taught by well-known Chinese masters, in the respected discipline of traditional Chinese brush painting. Her works have been extensively published throughout China. One of many honours includes the Asia-Pacific Gold Medal for Chinese Calligraphy and Painting.

France: 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance Art Exhibition' Touches People’s Hearts [23.12.2007]

A “Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance Art Exhibition" was held from December 11th to the 15th at the Mediatheque Exhibition Centre in the city of Dole. Visitors were shocked at the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) depicted in the paintings. Many people expressed how they were moved by the themes of the paintings as if watching stills from live camera shots.

There is an ancient Chinese legend which talks about a goddess called Magu. Magu was very young and beautiful, forever looking as beautiful and innocent as an 18 year old girl. Actually she has been alive for tens of thousands of years. She once told a friend that she had seen the East Ocean turn from land to ocean no less than three times!

The title of the painting is “The Eight Deities In a Drunken State”. Why are the eight Deities drunk? The inscription beside the title reads, “The longevity peaches of the Heavenly Empress ripe, she opens the door and throws her birthday party. Those deities are fond of good wine, and have fallen drunk next to the Yao Pond.”

This painting is based on a true story. A mother and son were arrested in China simply because they choose to practise Falun Gong. Being beaten, the boy holds back his tears. All he can think of is 'Why? Why did the policemen beat me and my mum?'

Painting: Tao Qian [10.11.2007]

Tao Qian, also called Tao Yuan Ming, is a great writer form the period of the Jin dynasty in ancient China, the earliest and most famous poet in China. It is not an exaggeration to say that all successful poets in different dynasties in China were all influenced by him. He was not after fame but was someone who loved nature and freedom, so much so that he gave up his position as a county mayor and went to live in the countryside.

In a garden surrounded by bamboo trees,an artificial mountain and marble hand rail. In the beautiful weather, there are three beautiful ladies, one is playing a Chinese flute, one is playing a pipe, the other is playing a harp. Beautiful scenery combined with lovely weather makes the music even more harmonious and moving. The ensemble means musical instruments playing together, it also implies harmonious happiness.

Painting: Children Carrying a Lotus Flower [06.11.2007]

It is known that lotus flowers grow out of the mud yet remain pure and unpolluted. They are called the 'true gentlemen of flowers'. Poems about lotus flowers started to appear in China three or four thousand years ago. Legend has it that the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss is filled with lotus flowers whose majestic beauty cannot be described in words. Here we can see a group of children playfully carrying a large lotus flower.

Painting: Unwavering Spirit [24.10.2007]

A reporter from The Wall Street Journal. In the article, he wrote, "The day before Chen Zixiu died, her captors again demanded that she renounce her faith in Falun Dafa. Barely conscious after repeated jolts from a cattle prod, the 58-year-old stubbornly shook her head. Enraged, the local officials ordered Ms. Chen to run barefoot in the snow, said cellmates and other prisoners who witnessed the incident."

Painting: The Heavens Speak [07.10.2007]

When China’s former leader, Jiang Zemin, visited Houston, Texas in October of 2002, thousands of people who practise Falun Gong went there to appeal for an end to the persecution. During their appeal, practitioners withstood several days of severe, cold weather and heavy rains. The practitioners refused to be affected by the weather and stood their ground. Finally the storm cleared and a huge rainbow appeared in the sky. This painting captures that moment.

Zhang Cuiying has travelled to over 40 countries and 100 cities to exhibit her paintings and tell her story. Ms. Zhang hopes, "I will continue these worldwide art exhibitions. I hope people can clearly understand Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance in Falun Dafa through my experiences of being persecuted, as well as the inner beauty revealed from my art works."

This piece depicts a common torture method used to inflict severe, prolonged pain. Bricks are stacked beneath the feet while ropes tying the legs down are pulled taut, bringing the legs to the point of breaking. The artist has given both men an ethereal halo - one bright, one dark and ghostly. The stark difference suggests the difference between being kind hearted and having a heart of evil.

The tall green mountain serves as a nice backdrop to two uniquely-shaped pine trees. In ancient times, people often used the pine tree as an analogy to describe the characteristics of a true gentleman. It does not shed its leaves (needles) in the harsh winter and remains upright in any situation. Throughout history, painters have often painted pine trees to declare their own determination.

To turn public opinion against Falun Gong, China's state-run media disseminates false propaganda that claims people who practice Falun Gong will turn psychotic. The policemen in this picture are injecting psychotropic drugs into the woman because she refuses to give up her beliefs. The drugs may cause slurred speech, paralysis or even death.
