On April 6th, 2007, the second day of the Chinese traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day, many groups and organisations including the UK Falun Gong Association, the UK Great Alliance of Breaking Away from the CCP, the UK Branch of the Global Service Centre for Quitting the CCP, the European Branch of the International Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong and the UK Epoch Times, held a grand rally and parade in London, supporting the twenty million brave Chinese people who have quit the CCP and its associated organisations, as well as Falun Gong practitioners in China who have been persecuted to death by the CCP and eighty million Chinese people who have been killed since the CCP came to power.
Lord Francis Thurlow, a former diplomat who has a long record of diplomatic service, made a speech at the rally condemning the CCP tyranny that has caused over eighty million Chinese people to die unnaturally, the cases of more than 3000 Falun Gong practitioners having been persecuted to death by the CCP have been proven and the atrocity of the CCP having removed organs from live Falun Gong practitioners has made one bristle with anger.
John Dee, Vice-Chairman of European Branch of the International Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, mentioned in his speech: “Today, we are here supporting twenty million Chinese people quitting the CCP. They are the awakened Chinese people and the bravest ones. From the day when the CCP was founded to now, the history of it has clearly exposed to the world’s people its evil and cruel nature, and the CCP is doomed to be ruined. ” At the same time, Mr. Dee also called on the Chinese people to offer evidence of Falun Gong practitioners in China being persecuted to the “International Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong”(CIPFG). The CIPFG has already got first hand data of many cases of the persecution. We must try to make the CCP stop the persecution, and allow Falun Gong practitioners and all Chinese people have freedom in their life.
Dr. Liu Wei, editor in chief of the UK Epoch Times, pointed out at the rally: Over twenty million Chinese people have already quit the CCP. The number of twenty million is perhaps not the most important; the most important is the CCP has completely lost morale, which the CCP is most afraid of.
Annie Yang, using her personal experience of being persecuted in mainland China, condemned the CCP’s long period of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Because of practising Falun gong, Ms. Yang was illegally arrested in Beijing, China on March 1st, 2005. She was sentenced to two years in a forced labour camp without going through any legal formalities.
After the rally, the parade started from the Chinese Embassy and went along Regent Street and then through London's famous Chinatown three times, which lasted three and a half hours. On this day in London, the sun was shining, the city centre was full of tourists and traffic was heavy. Wherever the parade reached, people all stopped and looked on. Several thousand leaflets, pamphlets and other material both in Chinese and English were distributed very quickly. At the termination of the parade, several Chinese tourists specially took group photos before the scroll of “Gods will destroy the CCP, you can keep your life safe when you quit it.”
