Working Together on the Resolution to Condemn Organ Harvesting at the European Parliament

I would like to share my experience of working on the resolution of the European Parliament against forced organ harvesting in China. I first came to the European Parliament to clarify the truth about the ban of the Russian Zhuan Falun book two years ago. As I was preparing to meet with the politicians, I learned that in recent years there had never been a full resolution dedicated to the persecution of Falun Gong there, only some paragraphs included here and there. I thought everything in this world is for Dafa and the persecution has been going on for almost 15 years, these politicians have a historical role to play, they need to take a stance. After much discussion and sharing with local practitioners in Europe we had some meetings with the politicians and decided to work on the resolution against organ harvesting.

In Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U.S. Fa Conference, Master said: “This persecution is like the Roman persecution of Christians back in the day, only worse. It involves crimes never committed before on this planet: audacious to the extreme, they actually seize the organs of living Dafa disciples, and the number who’ve been brutalized is enormous. But know that all gods in the cosmic body are witnessing these crimes!”

So we need to play the leading role and bring the worst crime ever committed to the forefront of people's minds. Inside I knew it had to be done, that Master would want it done. We only had six weeks for the whole process before the winter holidays. The first week we worked with a few practitioners but the response showed us that politicians were blocked. There was no response from anyone. Then we thought our energy field was not strong enough and sent an email to practitioners to meet for Righteous Thoughts and a brief update every night. The first night only four of us came; we sent forth Righteous Thoughts and shared. The next day everything changed, we got our first meetings. We only had five weeks left and we encouraged practitioners to come and participate in the meetings. I really felt like it was a precious opportunity to be a part of this historic event and I also believed in keeping everyone informed and our joint Righteous Thoughts made a difference.

As our proposal made progress inside the parliament, more and more politicians learned the truth about organ harvesting. Master arranged many supporters to help us in the short time that we had. David Kilgour magically came to Brussels at the right time to support our efforts. A famous organ transplant expert from Spain agreed to give supportive comments. During our truth clarification to politicians, we made full use of our previous supporters in the international community, and collected letters of support and documents that moved the resolution forward from different angles. Many practitioners cooperated in this process, overcoming notions and geographic distances.

More and more MEPs learned the truth but still nobody was willing to step forward as an author of the resolution. We strengthened our work inside the parliament with our activities outside. And small miracles happened throughout the process. We were allowed to give out flyers in places where they never allow anyone and were able to reach a few thousand people with information about organ harvesting. Practitioners stood outside in the cold for a few days. Most people took the flyers and thanked us and when we called and met with them afterwards, they were more determined and stepped forward to write the draft of the resolution. We continued to send forth Righteous Thoughts and update each other every night.

During the day, inside the parliament, we invited Chinese practitioners to go to meetings together with western practitioners. They were able to give their testimony of what happened inside the labour camps in China. Many people we met with were moved and could see the evil nature of the persecution. All the people we met with were shocked by the organ harvesting.

Time was going by quite fast. The deadline for the proposal of the possible resolution came and one day before it we were still looking for politicians from the biggest political groups to step forward. I looked inside and eliminated all thoughts, replacing them with just one: Only Master decides; if Master wants it to happen it will. It was afternoon already, and we still had no response. We sent forth Righteous Thoughts and called. Nobody was picking up the phone. We sent forth Righteous Thoughts again and called again. No answer. We sent forth Righteous Thoughts again – only Master decides. The phone was picked up and we were told the politicians are discussing our proposal right at that moment. They asked some questions and later confirmed they would support the proposal.

It was a breakthrough as this was the step practitioners could not get through before. However, there were three more steps of procedures for the proposal to go through and the first of them did not go well. It was difficult as some of the political groups opposed our resolution because of links to the CCP or misunderstandings about Falun Gong. Moreover, one of our key supporters could not make it to the meeting. I looked inside after that meeting and found I had become a bit complacent and attached to the surface manifestations. I asked Master to give me a chance to make up for the losses so that these beings could still fulfill their historic mission.

To support the second round of negotiations, we connected with practitioners globally and asked for Righteous Thoughts. I believe that really changed the situation dramatically. The energy field was quite strong as we sent faxes to all key politicians, and practitioners from different European countries called the offices asking for support. The second round was successful and our proposal moved forward but with conditions – it would only go through the next and final negotiation stage if leaders of all the political groups supported it. At that stage at least two political groups did not support the resolution because of close links with the CCP, so getting their approval looked quite impossible. Practitioners shared and decided this was a chance for us to save all politicians, and only Master decides the outcome. So we concentrated on reaching those political groups that were not supportive with truth clarification.

On the day of the final negotiations, the environment was tense. The activity scheduled for practitioners outside the building was cancelled by the police. We concentrated on sending forth Righteous Thoughts. In about one hour practitioners wearing blue jackets came out and sat in full lotus sending Righteous Thoughts in front of the parliament building. They could be seen from all windows and many people inside stopped to look at them; many people walking by also showed signs of support. Practitioners sent forth Righteous Thoughts for more than an hour. Then we learned that our proposal was approved. That moment I knew a miracle happened. Whatever took place in that negotiation room, I knew it was a miracle. I sent forth Righteous Thoughts with all my heart and I did all I could, but I knew that day – Master does it all. Master saves all sentient beings, Master made this miracle. Master wants this resolution to happen. It was a big relief for me to get rid of the limitations of my ego, to fully let go of “me” in any form – positive or negative. From that moment on I stopped asking Master for this or that because I knew Master does it all, so what use is there to ask? Instead, I now thank Master a lot more.

After all rounds of negotiations, we came to the final week of our campaign – the vote. Practitioners from different countries came to Strasbourg to support the vote for the resolution. Inside the parliament, political groups were meeting to discuss the draft. We kept calling and meeting with people to still clarify the truth more in this unique time and made arrangements for media coverage. The day before the vote there was a lot of work and everyone was tired. That evening, I had a big test. I saw a lack of compassion in our environment and suddenly I felt this extreme suffering from it. I felt like my dreams and hopes for compassionate cooperation were shattered. In that moment, I caught my thoughts and said to myself: I will not turn to destruction, I will not turn to sabotage. I see Master's plans in everything, and this is also part of Master's plan, and I thank Master for it. It all happened in a moment, but that moment of turning suffering and pain to gratitude was what carried me through till the end. The next day the resolution was adopted. Politicians also made strong statements exposing the evil persecution and organ harvesting in China. There was a battle during the debate and I think the reason evil could make the debate so chaotic was because of our lack of compassion – compassion for each other; compassion for all sentient beings. So that is something to improve upon going forward.

This resolution can be used to clarify the truth around the world. It exposes the organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China. It was wonderful to work on it and my cultivation has changed profoundly since. From experiencing how Master saves people through us and the power of global Righteous Thoughts and the cooperation of One Body, I changed in the way that is best described by Master's words from Teaching the Fa at the Great Lakes Fa Conference in North America:

"In the past, in whatever we were doing you would think: "How can I study the Fa well? How should I work for Dafa? How can I improve myself? How can I do better?" You always felt that you were learning Dafa, rather than that you were a part of Dafa. After this year I find that you've completely changed. You no longer think as you used to. No matter what you do for Dafa and no matter what it is you're doing, you are placing yourselves in Dafa instead of thinking about "I want to do something for Dafa" or "I want to improve myself in this way or that way" as you did before. No matter what you do, you aren't thinking that you're doing something for Dafa, about how you should do things for Dafa, or "how can I do things well for this Fa." Instead, you are placing yourselves in Dafa. Like a particle of Dafa, [you feel that] no matter what it is, you should just do it. Even though you aren't conscious of it or expressing it clearly in words, that is in fact how your actions already are. This is the biggest change I see in you after this year. In other words, you are completely in the Fa already. This is most apparent in the conduct of veteran students, in particular. Before it could be said that you were a student. Lately, I often use "disciples" instead of "students." You have indeed gone through tremendous changes. As you are cultivators, Master hasn't praised you much in the encouraging manner that everyday people use or told you how well you've been doing. This is because you are cultivators and you should know what to do."

Another thing to share: during our truth clarification to MEPs, we made full use of our previous supporters in the international community, and asked them to send their supporting letters to MEPs, to reach them from another angle to move our resolution case forward. For example, there are a few prominent Russian human rights activists who have been supportive of us for years after local practitioners' truth clarification. They are very much recognized by the EU for their defending of human rights in Russia. They sent their letters to MEPs to ask them to support our resolution.
