On March the 8th 2004, which is International Women’s Day, Zhang Cuiying successfully held the opening ceremony of her painting exhibition world tour in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. This is the first time that Cuiying has managed to successfully hold a painting exhibition in Romania. Last year, due to interference from the Chinese Embassy in Romania, the Romanian officials were deceived and did not understand the real situation of Falun Gong. The exhibition was forced to be cancelled.
This time, after the Romanian Dafa practitioners decided to help Zhang Cuiying to hold a personal painting exhibition and every one of them all proactively took action to do what a Dafa practitioner should do. In a few days, they managed to rent a venue for the painting exhibition and informed the media, government bodies, other organisations and people in all walks of life about the upcoming exhibition.
This year before the painting exhibition, the Chinese Embassy in Romania again tried to compel the landlord of the venue to cancel renting the place but the landlord adamantly refused. The Chinese Embassy officials thus spread rumours that the artist is involved in political propaganda; the landlord replied that he did not think that was the case. In the telephone conversation, the person from the Chinese Embassy told the landlord that if he wants money, it is not a problem for them. The landlord replied that this is not an issue of money; it is an issue of credibility. He had already signed a contract with the Romanian Falun Dafa Association.
On the day of the opening ceremony, the national TV station of Romania and many other media organisations came to make news report and interviews. The media expressed their objection regarding the interference that Zhang Cuiying was subjected to from the Chinese Embassy.
After the press conference and the opening ceremony of the painting exhibition, Zhang Cuiying introduced her experiences of being a famous artist and being a Falun Gong practitioner to the Romanian people. Her introduction included how she was cruelly persecuted because she went back to China to seek justice for Falun Gong. She said that hundreds and thousands of female Falun Gong practitioners in China are unable to celebrate International Women’s Day; they are still suffering illegal, inhumane and cruel persecution from the Jiang regime. Many of them have lost their lives. Zhang Cuiying also told everyone that her peaceful appeal has already received the sympathy and support of people from many countries. There are already lawyers from eight countries assisting her and other Falun Gong practitioners to file lawsuits against Jiang’s regime for their crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and torture. Amongst these lawyers is the internationally famous human rights lawyer Mr. Geoffrey Robertson. He will bring the lawsuit to the United Nations and the International Supreme Court.
Furthermore, Zhang Cuiying also shared the special characteristics of traditional Chinese painting and some of her personal understandings from creating art. Thereafter the Romanian Dafa practitioners demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. The audience all expressed their interest in China’s traditional culture. Someone in the audience also presented Cuiying with flowers. One lady from the Romanian National Women’s Association smiled and thanked Cuiying for bringing such beautiful things to Romania. One seventy-year-old man told Dafa practitioners that he is grateful to them from the bottom of his heart and wished Cuiying greater success. Many of those attending offered their best wishes for the success of the painting exhibition.
We believe that with the righteous thoughts and actions of Dafa practitioners, more and more Romanian people will see the goodness of Falun Dafa and understand the real situation about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China and recognise the wicked face of Jiang’s regime. Thus they will be able to choose a wonderful future for themselves.
