Police abducted Li Chunrong, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, and took her to a Detention Centre in July 2000. There she was subjected to brainwashing and other psychological torture. She could not sleep, and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage after she was released. She died on August 9.

Ms. Li Chunrong, 48, lived in the neighbourhood connected to the Hedong Daxiu Plant in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. She began to practise Falun Dafa in 1995. Subsequently her high blood pressure disappeared completely, and her temper became good as well. Her mother-in-law said, "She used to be ill all the time and always took medicine. Her face colour looked like a cow's liver. Now she has really changed and doesn't have to take a drop of medicine. Her face is fair with rosy cheeks. She is really pretty." Li Chunrong tried to be a good person by following the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Her caring and being considerate toward her mother-in-law led to the dissolving of grudges that existed for over a decade. The whole family said that Falun Dafa was very good.

In July 1999, the persecution against Falun Dafa began. In July 2000, Hedong Police from Lingyuan City illegally broke into Li Chunrong's home, arrested her, and took her to the No. 2 Detention Centre in Lingyuan City. The police searched her home and fined her. While she was detained, she was forcibly brainwashed and suffered severe psychological torture. After she returned home, she could not sleep for three days and nights, and she developed a sudden cerebral hemorrhage. She lost consciousness for five days and died as a result of the unjust persecution on August 9.
