Inspired by the Australian project “Petals of Peace” (www.petalsofpeace.org), Dutch practitioners took the initiative to write to elementary schools, asking the teachers to tell their pupils about the story of the children Fadu and Rongfa, who lost their fathers due to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The main theme of the project is the folding of paper Lotus flowers, which the children can send to Fadu and Rongfa as a symbol of peace and support. In this way children learn that the freedom they know in Holland is not taken for granted everywhere and that many children suffer severely from the human rights violations inflicted upon them and their families in China as the persecution against Falun Gong continues. Together with a pamphlet telling the story of Fadu and Rongfa and folding instructions, the letters were sent to all 7,000 elementary schools in Holland.
