UK: Promoting Falun Gong and Clarifying the Truth in Swansea

On the 29th and 30th of May 2004, the beautiful seaside city of Swansea welcomed a group of Dafa practitioners. They set up a stall in the city centre to introduce Falun Dafa and demonstrate the exercises to passersby.

Compared to before, this time the passersby were more inquisitive. Some passersby and their families stopped to look and some delightful children watched the practitioners do the exercises out of curiosity. All appeared reluctant to leave. Some people came to talk to practitioners to hear information about the truth and ask where the practice sites are; some people took photos of practitioners for mementoes after obtaining permission; and there were others who walked past but turned back to watch and take flyers or sign petitions.

There were two Western youths who stopped to ask about Falun Gong after passing the appeal. When they saw the photos of Dafa practitioners being persecuted and the Chinese regime burning the books of Dafa shown on the display boards, they could not understand how such a thing could happen in today’s society. They asked in detail about the persecution of Dafa practitioners in China. After understanding the truth, they expressed that justice and kindness will surely overcome evil. They also hoped that Falun Gong practitioners would soon be able to practise freely in a peaceful environment. Before leaving, they took all the available information and hoped to maintain contact with practitioners.

A young man who came to work in the UK from the US took photos of practitioners exercising after obtaining permission. He said he has his own website and would like to put the photos on the homepage. He also left behind his website address. He said his work permit in UK will expire next week and that he was very happy to meet with practitioners here unexpectedly just before leaving. A practitioner replied that he was also happy to know him and also told him that Falun Dafa is being practised worldwide. There are also many practitioners in the US. When he returned to his country, he would also have the opportunity to meet other Falun Gong practitioners. Before leaving, he said he would go back and watch the Video-CD we gave him and develop a better understanding of Falun Gong.

A student from China came to understand the truth on her own initiative. She said that she had received flyers in English before. She also asked some questions that practitioners answered one by one. She was curious that there were Western people practising Falun Gong too and was also astonished to learn that Falun Gong practitioners do not receive any financial reward for promoting Dafa outside. It is done voluntarily and free of charge. Practitioners suggested she take a look at a Dafa website so as to learn more. She said she had seen the website and that it was forbidden to read in China but was allowed outside. Practitioners know that the environment in China today has impeded the field of vision of people. There are still many people who are unable to have an overall understanding of today’s world and what is happening in this world. We believe that what this student saw today outside China will definitely help her.
