On May the 11th, a week after Wen Jiabao visited Ireland, Chinese Ambassador Sha Hailin actively made an appointment with the Union of Students in Ireland. According to the Union President, during the talks he asked the Chinese Ambassador Sha Hailin if Liu Feng and Yang Fang are allowed to come back to Ireland if they want to. Sha Hailin answered that Liu Feng can return to Ireland.
Earlier this year, the Union of Students of Ireland passed a resolution during its students representative conference, asking China to stop persecuting Falun Gong, as well as allowing Liu Feng and Yang Fang to go free and return to Ireland.
When the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was interviewed in Ireland, the Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, raised the issue and requested the safe return of the Chinese students Liu Feng and Yang Fang who had originally been studying in Ireland.
