In January 2004, influenced by the slanderous propaganda and under pressure from the Jiang regime, which has been carrying out a relentless persecution of Falun Gong, Paris police who were not aware of the facts mistreated Falun Gong practitioners. After the incident, French Falun Gong practitioners actively clarified the facts to people at all levels in France, demanding that the relevant persons should take legal responsibility and apologise to Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners' appeals have attracted attention and support from more and more people.

Recently, the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party and MP Mr Francois Hollande wrote to practitioners, saying that the Chairman of the Parliamentary Socialist Party has asked the MP responsible for Rights and Legal Affairs to take a look at this incident. His complete reply is as follows:

Francois Hollande. MP
Major of Tulle,
Tulle

Friday June 4th 2004

Sir,

I received your email dated 30th April and I thank you for that.

I understand your deep concern of the situation faced by Falun Gong practitioners in China. You also reminded me of the Paris incident occurring during the Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to France.

I am honoured to inform you that the Chairman of the Parliamentary Socialist Party Jean-Marc Ayrmalt was also alarmed by this event and has instructed his MP colleagues responsible for Rights and Legal Affairs to investigate what regulations were used to carry out these searches.

I assure you that I will keep a close eye on the result of their investigation.

Please accept my best wishes.

(Signed)
Francois Hollande.
