Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chang Shuzhen went to appeal for Falun Gong after the unlawful persecution began in 1999. The police detained and tortured her, which resulted in her death.

Chang Shuzhen had lived in Qingdao City. She started practising Falun Dafa in 1995, had always been diligent in cultivation and was a practice site assistant. She often patiently taught new practitioners the Dafa exercises.

In 1999, when Jiang's group began persecuting Dafa, Chang Shuzhen went to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested in Jiannan City, along with five other people, who were locked in a stairwell room used to hold prisoners. Inside the room was a metal ladder to which the police cuff the prisoners. At 8:00 p.m., Chang Shuzhen wanted to go to the toilet but the guard wouldn't let her. At around 4:00 a.m., police officers from the Jiaxing Road Police Precinct went to pick her up in a car. By this time Chang Shuzhen had suffered to the point that she could no long urinate and her face was sickly yellow. On the way back to the police department, Chang Shuzhen experienced excruciating pain and died as the car reached Qinma Town in Weifang City. Other Dafa practitioners told the police Chang Shuzhen had died, and the police drove to Qinma Town's Hospital. Around 6:00 a.m. the doctor examined her and said, "She can't be saved. She is gone."

Chang Shuzhen died because she spoke up for Dafa. So far, more than 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of torture in Mainland China. We appeal to the people around the world to help end this most malicious persecution in human history!
