On the afternoon of August the 28th, the day before the Olympic Flame was forwarded to Beijing from Athens, the International Human Rights Association, the headquarters of which is located in Frankfurt, held a ten-kilometre race for human rights in the southern city of Karlsruhe. The title of the activity was “For an Immaculate Olympics in Beijing, 2008”

Over one hundred amateur long-distance runners and human rights enthusiasts took part in the race around the city. They held a press conference at the halfway point in a square in front of the City Hall to expose the persecution of Falun Gong, the underground churches, Tibetans and minority groups, as well as appealing to Germans to pay attention to the current human rights situation in China. The Mayor of the City Parliament and the City Ruling Party supported the International Human Rights Association and supplied runners for the activity. German practitioners from Karlsruhe also participated the long-distance race.
