On the 7th of September, Radio Free Asia reported that the lawyer for the Falun Gong Association revealed that Falun Gong had filed a lawsuit against Jia Qinglin, the chairman of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference, for crimes of genocide and torture. Jia is visiting Spain at present.
According to the Reuters News Agency, fifteen people, including one Spanish and several US citizens, submitted the lawsuit together, appealing for their relatives who were persecuted in Beijing between 1999 and 2002, during which Jia time was the City Secretary of Beijing.

The lawyer for Falun Gong stated that the law of Spain empowers the Judges to make judgements concerning genocide internationally. The Falun Gong association hopes that Jia will be arrested during his visit to Spain. According to the news, Falun Gong sued Jiang Zemin for the same reason last October. The senior court of Spain however has not decided whether this case is going to be accepted and heard.
