Mr. Wang Xisong was a Falun Dafa practitioner who worked at Huanggang City's Pharmaceutical Factory in Hubei Province. He went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for a stop to the persecution against Falun Dafa where he was arrested, sent back home and then held at a Detention Centre where he suffered extensive physical abuse. He never recovered from the injuries inflicted at the detention centre at the time he passed away around September 12th, 2000.

Mr. Wang Xisong, 54 years old, was also an employee of Huanggang City's Pharmaceutical Factory. He had been suffering from thrombosis, which was soon cured in 1997 after he started practising Falun Dafa. In June 2000, Mr. Wang went to Beijing in an attempt to present to the authorities his story of how he had benefited mentally and physically from Falun Dafa. However, he was arrested by the police and sent back to his hometown, and held at the No.1 Huanggang Detention Centre.

While he was held in the detention centre, inmates frequently beat Mr. Wang at the instigation of the officials. The head of his cell robbed him of each of his meals, leaving only a fraction of the low-quality prison food for him. He was forced by the cell leader to catch mosquitoes and was deprived of sleep except for dozing off briefly next to the toilet each night. Mr. Wang suffered extreme mental and physical torture. After forty days, he was released only after his family paid over 1,000 yuan (the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China) in extortion fees, all the money they had in the world, to the authorities. The authorities also coerced his family members to sign a contract to make additional cash payments.

After Mr. Wang returned home, his family members saw injuries all over his back, chest, and neck. However, officials of the Pharmaceutical Factory continued to apply pressure on him to turn in his Falun Dafa books and to write a statement guaranteeing that he would cease practising Falun Dafa. Both his salary and basic living allowance had been terminated. Under this constant harassment and stress, and given the physical damage to his health, Mr. Wang Xisong died around September 12th, 2000.

It has been reported that other Falun Dafa practitioners from Huanggang City who have also been persecuted to death are as follows:

Ou Yangming, a teacher at Huanggang Industrial School, had been arrested several times. Eventually Ou died as a result of pierced lungs on August 20th, 2003.

Zheng Zhong, a retired official in the Foreign Trade Organisation in Huanggang. Zheng had been taken into custody five times and died on March 9th, 2004.

Yu Fuxiang, a family member of a Baota Middle School employee at Huangzhou, died on May 15th, 2004 from persecution.

Gui Xunhua, from Xinhe Village in Xiaochi Town, Huangmei County, died on June 1st, 2002 from persecution.

Nan Chuying, from Wanggang Township in Xishui County, died in February 2001 from persecution.
