The Brutality of Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

From September to October 2000, Jiang Zemin's regime sent many Falun Gong practitioners from Shandong Province to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for persecution. On the way there, they chained practitioners in pairs with handcuffs. Once there, the police asked some criminal inmates to body search them and check their belongings, including luggage and shoes. After that, each practitioner was pushed by three criminals to stand against the wall, with their noses touching the wall. If a practitioner did not stand straight enough, the criminals would punch him in the head from behind. Physical abuse happened in front of the police, but they allowed it to go on. Some even encouraged it. Afterwards, the practitioners were forced to sit on a narrow bench. Again, the criminals would beat and curse at the practitioners arbitrarily.

Every day from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., they forced practitioners to watch TV programmes to brainwash them. If they caught anyone closing his eyes, they pulled him to a room and tortured him. Practitioner Xiao Shifeng died as a result of the persecution. Practitioners refused to watch the programmes on TV. On November 2, 2000, they openly did the Falun Gong exercises together. The guards dragged them out, chained them to the wall, and used electric batons to shock them one by one.

In a meeting with practitioners, police leader of Division Ten said openly, "It is our job to persecute you. You are the subjects of our dictatorship." In the third building from the south end of the camp is a room for electric shock torture, equipped with many electric batons. When the nine practitioners were brought there for torture, the police stripped off their clothes. Then they handcuffed them to a steel pole that was fixed to the floor. More than a dozen policemen took turns to shock them. After extended torture, the police asked, "Do you still want to practise Falun Gong?" They would continue to torture as long as the practitioners answered affirmatively. The room was filled with the smell of flesh burning. More than a dozen batons were used at the same time. The practitioners could only see sparks and hear loud cracking sounds. Their bodies convulsed under the strong electric current, and they felt pain and swelling, followed by numbness. They had burns all over their bodies. After shocking the nine practitioners, the police chained them to different places: a tree, a steel door and a bed frame. All of practitioners were chained in such a way that they had to stand on their toes. Criminal inmates were then assigned to watch them.
