The Jilin Province Police Department has revealed that in March 2002, they captured a Falun Dafa practitioner because he had intended to tap into the cable television system and broadcast a video exposing the persecution. The practitioner, whose name remains unknown, was very determined and refused to answer any questions, regardless of how intensely the police interrogated him.

Hong Hu, the governor of Jilin Province, ordered that this case must be resolved within in a certain period of time. Some have said that while Hong was in Beijing to attend a meeting, Jiang Zemin personally ordered him to return to his home province. Hong was told that if he did not handle this matter well, he could no longer attend such meetings. Hong Hu was very angry that this incident had affected his political "future," so he ordered a special police team to resolve the case in a matter of days. However, no matter how intensely the police interrogated the practitioner, no information was gained.

So, whenever the desired result was not immediately forthcoming, the police would hammer a thumbtack into one of the practitioner's fingernails. It remains unknown exactly how many thumbtacks were hammered into the fingernails of this steadfast practitioner, because the interrogation team soon began doing it after each question. No mercy was ever shown.
