The artist has captured the moment when a depraved Chinese policeman is about to subject a young female Falun Gong practitioner to been tortured with a high-voltage electric baton. The visible signs of wounds on her thighs show plainly that she has already been subjected to extremely painful torture. However, her facial expression shows that she has never allowed herself to succumb to hatred or despair and that her inner peace and composure still prevails despite the torture. It is her steadfast faith in her cultivation practise, Falun Gong, and her determination to follow Falun Gong’s cultivation principles, Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, that has given her the strength to brave the most insufferable tortures and insults in the dark Chinese forced labour camp. The blue book on top of lotus petals in the air is Falun Gong’s main study text, Zhuan Falun.
