Ms. Dong Fuyun from Anyang City, Henan Province, persecuted to death

Ms. Dong Fuyun was approximately 60 years old, was from Anyang City, Henan Province. Ms. Dong lived in the Beiguan Grain Shop residential area on Beacon Road. She learned Falun Dafa in 1996 and cultivated whole-heartedly all the time. When the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. She was arrested and sent home. In October of that same year, she went to Beijing to appeal again. Once again she was arrested and detained at a detention centre, where she was beaten by policemen and tortured with the Tiger Bench1. She was also detained beyond her sentenced term. After being released in 2001, she was a main target for persecution by city and district 610 Office2 agents. Around Chinese New Year 2006, she was harassed again by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). On the night of February 17th, 2006, Ms. Dong Fuyun went to some residential districts to hand out materials exposing the persecution. Someone found her unconscious in a building and called the authorities. When the emergency police came, they said she was a patient and they should call the hospital. She was sent to the Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital accompanied by the police. She died after surgery on her skull.

According to her family, Ms. Dong had gone to hand out materials at about 8 p.m. that night, February 17th. Around 9 p.m., her family received a call and then hurried to the emergency ward of the Chinese Traditional Medical Hospital. They were informed that she had a severe cerebral hemorrhage. When doctors examined her, they found Falun Dafa materials on her. At that moment, policemen from the National Security Bureau or the Beiguan Police Station went to her home to search and took away more materials. After the surgery, Ms. Dong Fuyun died that night. The hospital said she had had a cerebral hemorrhage but could not determine the cause. Her family said her health had been good and that she did not have any illnesses. What happened in that building where she was found? We could not check, and her body was immediately cremated, so we could not examine it.

Ms. Zhou Feifei from Shandong Province died in the forced labour camp from unknown drugs

Ms. Zhou Feifei, 34 years old, was a Dafa practitioner in Dajinkou Village, Dajinkou Town, Tai'an City, Shandong Province. In November 2002, her house was ransacked. She was subsequently detained in Tai'an Detention Centre for one month. After that, she was sent back to Dajinkou Town government to be brainwashed. Since Ms. Zhou did not give up cultivation, she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. She was detained in the Jinan Women's Forced Labour Camp, where she was forced to take unknown drugs. Within one year, officials informed her family to take her home. By that time, Ms. Zhou had been persecuted to the point of mental collapse and she tried to commit suicide everyday. She jumped into the river dam and tried to poison herself many times but was always rescued. In 2004, Zhou Feifei poisoned herself again. This time emergency aid was no use and she died.

Blind Mr. Han Gencheng from Hebei Province was persecuted to death

Mr. Han Gencheng, a blind man, was from Dafeng Village, Weibo Town, Xinji City, Hebei Province. In June 1998, he fell sick and laid in bed all the time. He did not eat or drink for more than 10 days, and could not speak. A doctor examined him but did not find any illness. His family was very anxious. Many thought that he would not live much longer. Then Mr. Han luckily heard Teacher's Falun Dafa lecture tape. He gradually recovered and then began his cultivation.

Mr. Han Gencheng's house was once a place where many gathered to study the Falun Dafa teachings. After July 20th, 1999, his home was targeted repeatedly. Geng Chao and Yi Bao of the Xinjin 610 Office, chief Zhao Gentang of the town police station, and some people from the village committee went to his home many times to harass and threaten people. Han Gencheng's brother was detained at the local police station and the city 610 Office many times for no reason; his sister-in-law and niece were "illegally detained3" in the city detention centre many times. This left only Mr. Han's teenage nephew and himself home alone, crying all day with nobody to take care of them. Mr. Han Gencheng's spirit was harmed severely. He died on June 8th, 2002; he was only 38 years old.

Clerk Ji Jiacai in the Huabei Oil Field was persecuted to death by the 610 Office in his department

Mr. Ji Jiacai, 57 years old, was a clerk in the Huabei Oil Field. He once had diabetes and other diseases related to it. In 1996, he began to cultivate Falun Dafa and persisted in studying and doing the exercises. All of his illnesses disappeared without medical care. He did not need to take medicine for more than four years. On July 22nd, 1999, he and his wife, also a practitioner, went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and were arrested and sent back home. He was forced to write statements to give up cultivation, but he did not and continued to practise. The 610 Office in his department went to his home to harass him frequently. This caused him to become seriously ill. He died on January 1st, 2001.

Note

1. "Tiger Bench": Prisoners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead without movement for long periods of time.

2. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

3. Illegally arrested: Contrary to what former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution, and the Chinese Communist Party would like the world to believe, practising Falun Gong is NOT illegal in China. Although the Public Security Department issued an unconstitutional set of restraints on the practice at the onset of the persecution in 1999, no laws have been passed by the only legislative body in China, the People's Congress, banning Falun Gong or granting the police the authority to arrest Falun Gong practitioners for practising the exercises or distributing flyers. For a more complete discussion of the illegality of the persecution of Falun Gong, please refer to the article "The Ban on Falun Gong—A Dictator's Whim, Not the Rule of Law". (Variation: "illegally sentenced")
