My mother and I are permanent residents of Hong Kong. Because my father became paralysed, my mother went back to Beijing, and she has been looking after my dad for the past five years. Recently the Chinese Communist Party has deprived her of her freedom and right to look after my critically ill father. It was reported that she is detained in the Public Security Sub-Bureau of Xuanwu District, Beijing City.

My mother's name is Liu Ding. My paralysed father has been an in-patient of the Guanganmenwai Hospital in Beijing for a long time. On the afternoon of June 6th, 2006, mother took dinner to dad in the hospital as usual. At about 7:30 p.m. she left the hospital. We lost contact with her at that point. When she didn't return home, the relative who lives with my mother notified my brother. I received a phone call from my brother in the middle of the night. He said that Mum was missing. My brother worried that unexpected things might happen to her. He went to the hospital to make enquiries.

On the morning of June 7th, my aunt and one of my cousins also went out to look for Mum. When they came back at about 9:00 a.m., they found over ten people waiting outside the house. They were from the Tianqiao Community Centre, the Sports Stadium Road Community Centre, the Public Security Bureau in Chongwen District, the Beijing City Public Security Bureau, the National Security Bureau, and the National Protection Bureau, etc. They went into the house and confiscated computers, materials, books, DVDs, CDs and my brother's maintenance tools.

I made a phone call to my brother in the morning and learned that Mum had been arrested. My brother said that security personnel told him that they caught her when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution on her way home from the hospital. She was taken to the police sub-station near Guanganmen in Xuanwu District. Mum is now detained in the Public Security Bureau in Xuanwu District Beijing.

In the summer of 1997, Mum started to practise Falun Gong. Soon afterwards, her cervical hyperosteogeny, from which she suffered for several decades, disappeared. Her attitude towards her students changed dramatically. When she was teaching in a public school in Hong Kong, she earned the respect and praise of the teachers and students at school. Because both of us cultivate ourselves under the guidance of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, we changed our tempers and we also get along increasingly well together. Through cultivation, Mum and I have experienced the power of Dafa and the miracles it has created.

In 2001 my father became critically ill. Mum went back to Beijing to look after Dad. Mum's arrest was a heavy blow to Dad. He not only lost Mum but also suffered the loss of Mum's spiritual support. Mum also took care of my brother's child and my cousin who is partially paralysed. Spiritually Mum is the backbone of our entire family.

My whole family worries about Mum. My brother has had several sleepless nights. Especially after the news that the Communist Party harvests organs from Falun Gong practitioners surfaced, we were even more worried about Mum. So many practitioners like my Mum who are detained should be released unconditionally.

Here I demand that the Communist regime in Mainland China release my Mum immediately. I also appeal to the Hong Kong Government, Hong Kong Society and all kind-hearted people worldwide to help obtain the release of my Mum and other persecuted practitioners.

Mum is now being detained in the Custodial Station of the Public Security Sub-Bureau in Xuanwu District Beijing City.
