In the summer of 2005, Hebei Province Female Prison was newly constructed and all Falun Gong practitioners sentenced in Hebei Province were gradually transferred there for concentrated detention and persecution. On February 25th, 2006, 32 remaining Falun Gong practitioners from Hebei Province Taihang Female Prison were transferred to the new Hebei Province Female Prison. Currently, there are over 200 Falun Gong practitioners detained there. There are many evil prison policewomen who are deployed from other prisons. The policewomen bully and instigate inmates to curse, beat and torture those steadfast Falun Gong practitioners.
Falun Gong practitioners are tortured mentally by means of traps and allures and physically tortured by being forced to stand day and night and being deprived of sleep. The police force practitioners to write so-called "four statements1". Even practitioners who are elderly, such as 67 year old Zhao Wenlan aren’t spared as long as they keep up their belief in Falun Gong. The police utilize the criminal inmates to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners for long terms, not allowing them to speak with anyone and depriving them of personal freedom.
Yu Jingxia’s body extremely frail, her family appealing for her release on bail for medical treatment
Practitioner Yu Jingxia from Shijiazhuang City was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She was targeted for persecution because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong and be brainwashed and transformed2. She is now very frail and suffers from severe heart disease from the persecution. According to insider information, she is now being treated with intravenous injections in the prison. Her family is appealing for her release on bail for medical treatment.
Yu Jingxia is a resident of Bolin North District, Shijiazhuang City. She used to have a happy family and both husband and wife practised Falun Gong. They owned a clothing shop and enjoyed a prosperous business.
After July 20th, 1999, her happy family life was shattered. On September 28th, 2001, her husband, Zhang Lingjiang, was arrested in Kaida Apartment Complex on Gongnong Street. He was then sentenced to 10 years in prison and detained in Hebei Province Baoding Prison.
Yu Jingxia was forced to become homeless and wander the streets to avoid arrest and persecution by the police. Her teenage daughter also became homeless and has been taken care of by Yu Jingxia’s younger sister.
On the afternoon of January 19th, 2004, Yu Jingxia went to visit her relatives at the clothing shop and was arrested by the police from Xinhua Police Station Branch who were waiting there. She was detained in the Second Detention Centre of Shijiazhuang City. Yu Jingxia went on hunger strike to protest the arrest and inhuman torture by the police. She suffered extreme weight loss to the point of being beyond recognition. Her legs became badly swollen and she could not walk by herself. She also had other complications and her internal organs were damaged. The Xinhua Police Station Branch feared that she might die in their hands and released her. On the morning of April 29th, 2004, Xinhua Police Station Branch, in spite of her fever and fragile health condition, abducted Yu Jingxia from her grandfather’s home and sent her to the Second Detention Centre of Shijiazhuang City. Yu Jingxia was sentenced to 10 years in prison and is currently detained and persecuted in Hebei Province Female Prison.
Bai Yuzhi not able to take care of herself, not allowed bail for medical treatment
Falun Gong practitioner Bai Yuzhi is over 40 years old and was a commissar of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Jingxing County, Hebei Province. She is detained in Hebei Province Female Prison. Her health is in bad condition and she was on the verge of death quite a few times. She lost her eyesight and is not able to take care of herself in daily life. Her family has appealed for her release on bail for medical treatment but their request was rejected by prison authorities.
Bai Yuzhi was arrested and sentenced to forced labour several times for continuing to believe in Falun Gong. She was detained in Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City of Hebei Province, where she suffered all kinds of inhuman tortures. She went on a hunger strike for over 100 days. Her family and friends appealed to various authorities and she was released on bail for medical treatment. At home, before she was able to recover, the police started harassing her. She was forced to become homeless to avoid harassment and further persecution.
In August of 2002, Bai Yuzhi was abducted from her residence in Shijiazhuang City and detained in the Second Detention Centre of Shijiazhuang City. In the detention centre, she went on a hunger strike to protest her arrest and suffered severe deterioration of her health. On April 10th, 2003, she started to vomit blood and was force-fed by the police. Her nose was broken and she nearly lost her eyesight. She could not walk by herself and had to be carried by the person that was force-feeding her. When the Second Detention Centre authorities reported her situation as "critically ill", the 610 Office still declined her family’s request to release her on bail for medical treatment. The 610 Office3 sentenced her to 4 years in prison. On May 19th, 2003, Bai Yuzhi and Wang Yunman were detained in the Second Female Prison of Shijiazhuang City and later transferred to Hebei Province Female Prison.
Bai Yuzhi started a hunger strike in September of 2002 and was force-fed to the point that she almost died. She vomited blood and became very frail. Her body swelled and she could not see anything from either eye. She could only lie on the bed and could not take care of herself in daily life. It has been 3 years up to now. Her family has appealed several times for her release on bail for medical treatment, yet the prison authorities have declined their appeal using the excuse "not being allowed by the higher authorities."
In March this year, the international media exposed the startling behind-the-scenes plotting with respect to the harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and then cremating them to destroy the evidence. According to insider information, Hebei Province Female Prison has also participated behind the scenes in such crimes. We appeal to the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong to pay attention to the criminal acts of the Hebei Province Female Prison.

1. "Four Statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write the "four statements" as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the 610 Office, they consist of "a letter of repentance," "a guarantee" to never again practise Falun Gong, a "Dissociation Statement" to declare a dissociation with Falun Gong and promise not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.
2. "Reform or Transform" Implementation of brainwashing and torture in order to force a practitioner to renounce Falun Gong. (Variations: "reform", "transform", "reformed", "reforming", "transformed", "transforming", and "transformation")
3. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
