The following is a summary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Xinjin County, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province that has taken place since the CCP started openly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners on July 20th, 1999. These facts however, represent merely the tip of the iceberg. We urge those with more detailed information to expose more facts of the persecution in order to bring it to an end.

1. Ms. Yang Jiqiong (60), Ms. Yang Jiyou (57) and Ms. You Xuewen (62)

All three are from Baodun Village, Xinping Town, Xinjin County. Because they persisted in practising Falun Gong, they have repeatedly suffered from the CCP persecution.

On December 27th, 2000, the three travelled all the way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. When they arrived at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on December 29th, 2000, the Beijing police arrested and handcuffed them. They were put into a police van and taken to Chengdu City's Beijing office. On the way there, the police repeatedly punched them in the eyes. On the afternoon of December 29th, 2000, Ms. You Xuewen and Ms. Yang Jiyou were transferred to Tianjin. At Tianjin Police Station, the police cursed and beat them. They also kicked Ms. You Xuewen. They were brought back to Chengdu City's Beijing office at around 1:00 a.m. The police frisked Ms. Yang Jiyou and stole 500 yuan1 from her.

Peng Shuquan, deputy chief of Wujin Town Police Station in Xinjin County at the time, is now deputy chairman of the No. 1 Division of the Xinjin Public Security Bureau. Peng and a young policeman went to Beijing and took the three practitioners back to Xinjin. They were imprisoned in the Taiping Police Station in Xinjin where they were subjected to police brutality, including punching, cursing, kicking and slapping on the face. Later they were transferred to another detention facility. Their homes were ransacked and their families had money extorted from them as so-called "fines." Ms. Yang Jiqiong was detained for fifty days and had 3,000 yuan extorted from her. [Because her family was unable to pay for the money,] the police took her house property certificate as collateral. To this date, the police are still in possession of the property certificate.

Ms. Yang Jiyou was detained for fifteen days and the police extorted 6,000 yuan from her. The police did not even issue a receipt. Ms. You Xuewen was detained for sixteen days and had 2,400 yuan extorted from her.

2. Ms. Jiang Bin (49), a resident in Dongdaqiao Village, Xinping Town, Xinjin County

Before Ms. Jiang Bin started practising Falun Gong, she suffered from gastroptosis, gastrorrhagia and about twenty additional ailments. Shortly after she started to practise Falun Gong in 1997, her ailments were all miraculously cured. She has suffered from the CCP's severe persecution because she persisted in practising Falun Gong.

When the CCP started the persecution in July 1999, Yu Shengliang, police chief of her town's police station, repeatedly went to her home to try to force her to give up practising Falun Gong. She refused to comply each time. As a result, Yu Shengliang used it as an excuse to confiscate her house property certificate and her ID.

On March 16th, 2000, Ms. Jiang Bin went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. On March 20th, 2000, the police brought her back and imprisoned her in Wujin Town Police Station in Wujin Town, Xinjin County. She was imprisoned for fifteen days and had 4,000 yuan extorted from her as a "fine." Her husband does not practise Falun Gong. He gave the police an additional 1,300 yuan as a bribe to get her out of detention.

On June 27th, 2001, Ms. Jiang Bin's son went to Beijing to appeal and was brought back to Xinjin by the police. Lu Jun, chairman of her township's administration office, as well as Liu Shuquan, captain of the office, demanded 10,000 yuan from Ms. Jiang, or her son would be sent to Xinjin County Public Security Bureau. The word from the bureau was that they were interested in only the money, not her son. Ms. Jiang refused to give in to the threat. Her son ended up being imprisoned in Wujin Town Police Station in Wujin Town, Xinjin County for five days and 200 yuan was stolen from him. Ms. Jiang Bin was imprisoned in Chengxi Police Station in Chengxi, Xinjin County for two days and robbed of 500 yuan. The police repeatedly slapped her face until her mouth bled profusely. Ms. Jiang told the police, "As law enforcement officers, you have knowingly violated the law." The captain of the township's No. 3 Team replied, "There is no law for you Falun Gong practitioners. I am entitled to do whatever I like."

In July 2001, policemen Zhen Yu and Lu Jun went to Ms. Jiang Bin's home again. They lied to her, saying that they would award her 100 yuan if she agreed to give up practising Falun Gong. Ms. Jiang refused of course, so they put a gun to her head and took her and another Falun Gong practitioner to Chengxi Police Station. They were imprisoned there for five days. The police forced them to do hard labour every day. In order to rescue her from the police, Ms. Jiang's family gave the police 1,000 yuan as a bribe.

In June 2003, the Secretary of the local Team, the mayor of the village, and eight other men broke into her home and stole two radios. She was taken to Chengxi Police Station again where she was tied to a tree for three consecutive days. Her family gave the police another 350 yuan as a bribe to have her released.

The Chengxi Police Station and the area's Administration Office often harassed her at her home until 2005.

Note:

On March 17th, 2000, two female practitioners who were college students were imprisoned in Chengdu City's Beijing Office. They were locked in two separate rooms where they were gang-raped by three policemen. Practitioners overheard one of the college students saying in the room, "Only my mother has touched my body." Next she was heard sobbing continuously for about 30 minutes in the room. Then the three policemen left the room laughing aloud. Sixteen Falun Gong practitioners from Xinjin County witnessed the crime and saw that one of the rapists wore a name tag that said Wang Tao.

3. Ms. Wang Chuanxiu (53), a Resident of Baodun Village, Xinping Town, Xinjin County

Ms. Wang Chuanxiu began practising Falun Gong in 1997. Shortly afterwards, her health and temperament were miraculously transformed. People from the area's Production Team commented, "She is a renewed person. Since she started practising Falun Gong, her health and her temperament have improved. Her family became harmonious and she now has a good rapport with her neighbours." On June 4th, 2000, Ms. Wang Chuanxiu travelled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested by the police at Tiananmen Square. She was brought to Chengdu City's Beijing office where she was frisked and robbed of 580 yuan. After she was transferred back to Xinjin County, she was imprisoned in Wujin Town Police Station for five days, imprisoned in a detention centre for thirty days and fined 1,000 yuan.

On December 27th, 2000, Ms. Wang Chuanxiu went to Beijing again to appeal. As soon as she arrived at the Beijing Train Station, the Beijing police ordered her to curse Falun Gong and Teacher. She said, "I have never cursed anyone since I was little." Because she refused to curse, she was taken by police car to Chengdu City's Beijing office. On June 2nd, 2000, she was brought back to Xinjin County and imprisoned in Chengxi Police Station for four days. Next, the township government extorted 1,600 yuan from her and imprisoned her for another thirty days in a detention facility before they sentenced her to one year in Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp. After being tortured at the Chengdu Transport Station for eleven days, she was transferred to Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong where she was subjected to all kinds of torture. A year later, she was released, but the township government officials had her watched and followed constantly.

4. Ms. Huang Chaofen (49), a Resident at Baodun Village, Xinping Town, Xinjin County

Ms. Huang Chaofen had been very frail and prone to illness since she was little. She suffered from more than ten types of illness, which cost her over 50 yuan for medicine per day. For over a decade, her illness continued to deteriorate. Shortly after she started practising Falun Gong in 1998, her health was restored.

On March 16th, 2000, she travelled to Beijing to appeal and ended up being arrested and imprisoned in Chengdu City's Beijing office. Two policemen from Xinjin County flew to Beijjing to pick her up and made her husband pay for the plane tickets. Ms. Huang Chaofen was imprisoned in Chengxi Police Station for fifteen days and was fined 10,000 yuan. She was charged another 200 yuan in the name of food expenses during the imprisonment.

Ms. Huang was arrested in September 2003 and November 2005 for distributing materials containing the truth about Falun Gong. Before the Chinese New Year 2006, the Anxi Police Station threatened her husband, demanding that he pay 500 yuan, or else they would arrest Ms. Huang after the Chinese New Year. Before 2005, policemen constantly harassed her at home and over the phone.
